Just last week The Double Comfort Safari Club – the 11th addition to the highly addictive No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency Series – was released to glowing reviews.
This week, as part of our More In Store program (downloadable at your local B&N), Alexander McCall Smith has penned a short story exclusive to NOOK owners!
An Italian idyll goes hilariously awry when the only means of touring the Tuscan hills is by way of a bulldozer. Smith’s gracious prose is the ideal escape for armchair travelers!
NOOK owners: go to shop, and search "Alexander McCall Smith" for a list of his books.

Looks like it is time for my nook to head to the Mothership so that it can get the short story!

I realize that B&N wants to get us into their stores, but for those of us who have Nooks and can't get to the stores easily couldn't the "More in Stores" offerings be available to us at a later date?

You're not missing much. Four pages of cute but mindless - and direction-less - nonsense. More an essay than a "short story"; hardly worth the gas to drive to B&N. Better to just download No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency and start enjoying some real stories. Worth every one of the 11 downloads!

I absolutely love Alexander McCall Smith. I saw him in Lakeland last year and he was soooo funny and just a real interesting guy. I was first in line to get my books signed. : ) Pics with him signing. Way cool. Just downloaded the new one today and cant wait to read.
So far I cant even decide which of all his books I like best. Maybe The Scotland Series.....but also loved the La Orchestra.
Its true Im one of his best fans. : )
