One of the problems I've had is the ability to properly display charts and tables from a PDF.  Works great on the software based NOOK (i.e. NOOKstudy, NOOK for PC, etc), but is completely illegible on the NOOK itself.  Other than the charts and tables, it views fine.

I have never had a freeze up and so far love my nook. I wish the beta web would work better. I also have been able to use it in the store to read books I have not purchased. I wish there was a better selection of free books as there is only 5 pages on the web site and have most of them and do not want to search through the entire library to get to free books.

xstitcher: To find all (almost a million) free e-books, just do a search for "$0.00". Like this: http://productsearch.barnesandnoble.com/search/results.aspx?store=EBOOK&WRD=%240.00

Why are people posting to this thread, anyway? It's a five-month-old announcement of the 1.3 update, which has long since been superceded by the 1.4 update. If you want to make a suggestion for future updates, there's an official thread in the NOOK forums for that, which is watched by B&N: http://bookclubs.barnesandnoble.com/t5/NOOK-General-Discussion/Suggested-Improvements-For-V-1-5/td-p...

I wish that in the next up date that they have a better way to highlight the text of a page. The present way is time consuming, awkward and cumbersome. Other than that I love my Nook.

The reason is that a few posts on here were laurelled a significant number of times so therefore they show up on the Top Laurelled Posts even though the thread is irrelevant and very old.  The thread should have been locked a long time ago and/or the Top Laurelled Posts feature have a time frame attached to it.  I got confused when I started cruising these boards a while back too.

If Version 1.5 could come with one upgrade that is desperately needed, it is the highlight function. In order to operate the current highlight function you have to be a magician to get the cursor on the correct text that you want to highlight, whcih takes too much time causing a book I could of read in 3 days into a 5 day book. If they fix this..Nooks would fly off the shelf..who needs a paper back book when the Nook can highlight, post it note, and dog ear. Until this happens, the competition like the Ipad and Kindle will always be lurking around.
