hoping for optional password protection for purchases so I can lend my nook to friends without the worry of my credit card be charged for anything 'unexpected'.

I'm hoping for 3rd party app support and RSS aggregation :smileyhappy:

I'm hoping the upgrade goes smoothly and doesn't "brick" my nook before I leave for China on Friday!

Yay!  I can't wait to see what we're getting.  So, for everything has just been rumor, so I've been checking here off and on to see if anything more solid has been posted.  :smileyhappy:

... so what should we expect from this 'update' what kind of new features? You must know. no need to be vague.

Hooray!

Hope to see some real improvements in the performance of the touch screen, especially when scrolling.

It would be nice to get from page 1 to page 100 without having to click the arrows 99 times:smileyhappy:

I'd settle for fewer freezes.

D'accord!!!  Please give us a "go to page #" feature!!

The update is a done deal I'm sure.  It just hasn't been released yet.  Speculation at this point is really just a waste of time.  Nothing will change.

I would like a feature that lets me group books as I please in the nook's Library rather that just listing them in the order of the title or author

A standalone dictionary would also be good

Saw this at Gizmodo.com: We're told that Barnes & Noble will be revealing some new products later this year: Nook 2 ("Project Encore") and a Wi-Fi-only Nook Lite. Meanwhile, a software update that includes a full browser is supposed to hit next week.

Apparently both of the devices are due this year—we're told that the Nook Lite will be on sale by the end of the second quarter. And while there are no details on the next generation Nook, we are told that the Nook Lite will be a Wi-Fi-only device and sell for $199.

The Nook v1.4 software update is apparently going to be available for download over Wi-Fi next week and will include a browser.

As slow and clunky as highlighting, word lookup, and the dictionary are - I can't wait to see how this "browser" functions if this rumor is true.  Imagine the browser equivalent of the Fred Flintstone car.

YABBA DABBA DOO!!!

^^ The flintstones car was pretty fast if i remember right. :smileyhappy: Anyway, i was just hoping that this update would make my device more like the ipad, Kindle Nook that I thought I was getting into.
