Nook Color v1.4.1 Firmware Update Now Available for Sideloading
I’m excited to let you know that starting today, NOOK Color owners have access to firmware version 1.4.1, our largest software update ever, that makes the award winning NOOK Color even better. With over 100 feature enhancements, you’ll now be able to access top video and music services, even more popular apps, NOOK Comics™ including your favorites from Marvel Comics, and so much more.
In addition, the software update makes it easier than ever to find great new content with a new, enhanced shop experience. With just a tap, you can shop the redesigned NOOK Store to find your next great read, kids’ book, newsstand title or app—plus get recommendations. And in response to customer feedback, you can now read books in both portrait or landscape and adjust the text with even more font sizes to choose from. You can sideload the update here immediately at no cost: www.nookcolor.com/update. The free over the air (OTA) delivery to customers connected to Wi-Fi begins this week.

Thanks for the update! I can now read my books in landscape, and I've been waiting for over a year for Netflix! Still lousy selection of fonts though - no Arial or Times New Roman, or some of my other favorite fonts.

Can anyone with FiOS confirm that B&N didn't break wifi with this update, as they did with the Simple Touch?

I can confirm that I did the update and had no problems with WIFI at all, but on the other hand I have put on all the updates and have never had a problem with WIFI.

anyone have trouble getting the Nookcolor to start the update? I sideloded the update and the Nookcolor has not recognized the file aand begun to install it after almost an hour! Help! I even had a char session with support and verified that I did everything right, but it is still not working. POO!

I just sideloaded the update. What happened to 'my shelves'? And why does the memory card need to be reformatted---the one that came preloaded with 100 classics in a special offer when I purchased my Nook Color?

I had to drag and drop my zip file into the Nook three times to get it to work but it did eventually recognize the file and install. After that I've had no issues whatsoever with the update and I'm really quite excited about it.

Novuma, you should always eject your microSD card before sideloading an update

Update went great and netflix looks amazing. I have been waiting for this as well and fought the urge to root.

I ejected both 'drives' of my Color the same way I always eject it from my computer. The SD card has always behaved before.
And what happened to the shelves?

Is HuluPlus not available for the nook color after you've done the nook color update?

Okay, now that I've found 'my shelves', I discover that Nook Color does not seem to support Google books--but my original Nook opens the books that the color Nook won't. This seems odd.

Ack! I updated and it seemed to go fine, but when I tried to continue reading the book I was in the middle of, I get this: Error Dialog / User not activated
It's doing this on every book I try to open... help!
