We promised you the other day that we’d return with some highlights of the big nook launch event at NYC’s Chelsea Piers.
Turns out, our videographers came up with the perfect tool for this: A cool little highlight reel that shows nook, its many features, and (for the first time) how it'll be displayed in Barnes & Noble stores.
Enjoy! (And remember, the best place for your nook-related questions is our eBooks Help Board.)

Thanks for the comments, willclara.
I'm going to point you to our help board for the discussion of international issues.
Short story is that you cannot buy eBooks from the B&N eBook store outside the U.S. Sorry.

I too am very excited about the nook!! It looks like you guys really though of all the things people would want in an eReader without going over the top. I am pretty sick of devices that feel they must do everything under the sun. When I want to read, that's all I want to do is read. Anyway, thanks for the great product, can't wait to get it in my hands!!

Hi degDR. There is no text-to-speech function on nook at this time. A lot of people have been asking about this, though, and we're taking your concerns into consideration. nook does support audiobooks, though. Thanks for your question.

I compared selection and prices of ebooks between B&N and Amazon. Amazon came out way ahead in both (greater selection, way cheaper prices). I got interested in the nook because I was hoping to read ebooks from libraries that subscribe to Overdrive. From the obscure answers from company reps I can assume that nook is not capable of that (Sony is).
Unless B&N matches Amazon's ebook prices and/or Sony's Overdrive compatability, I'll have to forgo the nook.
A piece of advice to the reps:
Obscure answers raise extreme suspicion. Say "yes", "no", or "we're working on it" (but only if it's true!)

Well this is very, very disappointing news. From my discussion (although brief) with B&N reps, I thought that the nook would work with Overdrive. I use Overdrive often to download free (library) audiobooks. Over time the library has grown to support ebooks that work with other devices. Because they did not have (copyright?) agreements with Apple devices, they only offered eBooks for MP3 players and PCs. Now they support iPods, Macs, and iPhones. I have already contacted my state library system and asked them about nook. So far there is no sharing agreement. Maybe it will happen someday.
