you guys should have just outsourced the iPad app to India.  It would be out by now and you wouldn't have fallen further behind Amazon and the Kindle.

Kind of sad that the b&n ereader app for iPad is not coming out anytime soon. They missed a lot of business from me in the ebook area since I got my iPad. Between the iBookStore, Kobobooks and Amazon I have spent  alot and the thing is if the app had been released when they said it was going to be released, I would have gotten the ebooks here.

no kidding. I couldn't sit here and wait for the app....I have been buying with amazon kindle app. I'm like so pissed that there is still nothing!!!

I am moving on also. I like my nook but B&N has been really bad about support. I could care less that they gave use chess, where is the ipad app? I guess I will sell my nook and move over to the kindle. I wish I could find one platform I could stick with.

I ended up buying two devices, the Jetbook Lite so I could read my drm .pdb files from fictionwise and I just purchased the Aluratek Libre Pro, the white one, from beachcamera.com as it was on sale for $129.00 and with the firmware update it will handle drm protected epub and PDF files. So I will be able to get my epub ebooks from any site that sells epub ebooks and not be tied down to propriety hardware end ebook files now. I and going to get the majority of my ebooks from Kobo and books onboard now. I really cannot read on the smaller devices anymore as I am getting to old and my eyes are having a hard time focusing on the smaller screens. That was one reason I bought the iPad and then decided to get the jetbook lite when fictionwise told be the ereader software was not going to be updated. I was really hoping b&n would update as someone told be you could load fictionwise/ereader ebooks in to the b&n software. But looks like that is not going to happen anytime soon.

Will you be able to transfer the books from your nook with the app for the ipad? I have the kindle app and I am able to transfer all my books from the kindle. Also anytime I get a new book I can send it to the ipad. I hope I will be able to do this with the B&N app.

here it is... months later and still no app.  i'm now starting to buy from the apple store.  i couldn't even get my newspaper i would pay $12.99/mo to be delivered on time or uncorrupted to the nook.  sad thing is that the nook is better than the kindle, but the support behind the product is extremely lacking.  heck, i can't even get a measly nook accessory from any of the brick & mortar stores and forget about discounts for being a paid "member!"  also weird... the nook can't even tell the correct time!  barnes & noble i guess have never heard of daylight savings time settings.  lol

I am another iPad user who wants to buy books from B&N, but can't because there is no app specifically for the iPad.  I am going to be selling my nook, but have been stalling waiting for an app.  I have also been buying books from the Amazon and iBooks apps on iPad.  Unlike one of the previous posters, I like the idea of having all the ereaders on one device so I can choose which seller has the book I want available and which one has it cheapest.

I am getting pretty frustrated that B&N has not released the iPad app, but even more frustrated that there is no update as to why there has been such a long delay.  I am trying to be a loyal B&N customer, but they are not making it very easy for me.  There are so many books being released and I just want to read them all, but unfortunately, I'm not going to be able to give B&N my business at the rate that I read books.

Real soon?
Barnes and Noble look terrible on the iPad when using the iPhone app. This could have been fixed relatively easily a long time ago. Instead a pie-in-the-sky strategy by doing a total rewrite was followed.
Now it's been two months since the launch, and Barnes and Noble have left their customers without any solution at all.
And it seems no one at Barnes and Noble is communicating with us as to when it will be released.

Well. I noticed the b&n ereader was released for the iPad today so I downloaded it for a test run. Nope. Does not support sideloading of ebooks from Fictionwise and eReader websites. This really sucks as I have well over two hundred ebooks from Fictionwise and eReader. Without this feature the bnereader app is worthless to me and as such I will not only not use it, but will not purchase any books from barnes and noble now. If it had let me port my previously purhcased ebook titles over I would have been very happy to start making new release purchases from barnes and noble, but not now.

LOVE IT... back to buying books from B&N now!   :smileyhappy:
