What do fans of thrillers, fantasy, chick lit, and Al Roker have in common? Give up? They've all got something to choose from in today's roundup of new eBook releases.
1.) Dean Koontz, the prolific master of suspense, leads the charge this week with the debut of Breathless. The cast of characters--including a craftsman, a veterinarian, estranged identical twins, a specialist in chaos theory, and a lonely vagrant--start out as strangers. But as this mystery unravels in the Colorado Rockies, their lives intertwine in a journey that will leave you, well, breathless.
Fun fact about Koontz: The two books that had the most influence on his career were his high school grammar textbook and the novel Tale of Two Cities (also available as an eBook).
2.) Lisa Scottoline, the New York Times bestselling novelist, has handpicked the best of her beloved Philadelphia Inquirer columns and compiled them into one hilarious book of essays: Why My Third Husband Will Be a Dog: The Amazing Adventures of an Ordinary Woman.
The 70 vignettes in Scottoline's collection deal with such issues as being caught bra-less in the ER, the ordeal of wearing Spanx, how not to die at the gym, and--as the title indicates--why her cherished dogs have replaced actual, human romance in her life.
3.) First Lord's Fury (Codex Alera Series #6), the 6th book in Jim Butcher's popular Codex Alera series, continues the powerful story of Gaius Octavian, the warrior who must lead his legions to triumph and save the world from eternal darkness. If you're not already a fan of the series, we recommend reading the books in order, starting with the 1st, Furies of Calderon (available in paperback).
4.) Here's a side of Al Roker (yes, THE Al Roker of Today Show fame) that you probably thought you'd never see. The TV anchor/weatherman is trying his hand at fiction. His first novel, The Morning Show Murders, debuts today. It's been said that you should write what you know, and that's what Roker's done in this thrilling tale of murder at a network TV station.
In an interview on B&N's Tagged!, Roker says he inherited his love of the mystery genre from his mother, a voracious reader. He also promises that none of the characters in his own mystery novel are based on anchors from his actual morning show...but you can be the judge of that.

while these books look interesting, especially the Lisa Scottoline book...there are still quite a few books that I dont see on the Barns and Noble ebook list...great books , like, Jim fergus "One Thousand White Women and Kallos " Broken for You" and what about romances ? I have a book club and we are all big romance readers......will you be getting more in as they are released, or is a " wait and see "thing. Can we as a Nook owner request a book? I'm really excited about the Nooks arrival, but wanted to know how long it takes inprint book to become ebooks......and wanted to know if some of my favorite authors will be represented in the list.
