So if the store is listed as having a demo copy, they will also be selling the Nook in-store (depending on their stock)?

The enthusiasm at my local B&N has been underwhelming. "Oh, well. Um, yeah...I guess" just about sums up the locals' attutude toward stocking up the nook and the nook accessories. I'll stick to the online shopping venue, where I don't feel like I'm keeping somebody from something more important. Like the next coffee/smoke break.

I called two stores today . . . my local, which *IS* pretty big keeps claiming that "Only the large stores will get them . . . try XYZ, they have it in stock now", despite their having the demo unit.  The "XYZ" store, when called, says that they have never stocked the unit (glad I didn't drive out!!!) and have no idea what this week will bring.  It seems that B&N has made this public statement whilst leaving their retail arm totally in the dark with regard to over the counter Nook sales.

Great device, not so hot in-store sales/marketing support so far . . . .

I think instead of 10% of a CD, the offer should have been 10% of an any ebook purchased on a nook, while in the store.

My Nook arrived today and is home waiting for me to get off of work. I'm excited about finally breaking it open and getting back into reading (paper books are so bulky and annoying to carry around). But, 10% off of a CD? I bought a digital book reader, and my reward is a coupon for a physical music disc? That's lame and doesn't make it seem like B&N really understands who Nook owners are. CDs?!? C'mon! If you're going to give me a discount, give me a discount on something USEFUL! Like ... eBooks!!! Or a Nook cover/frame!!! Or a reading light. A physical CD ... jeez. I hope these Nook specials get better.

Just got off the phone with Tech support to upload the new software. Very polite and got the job done quickly. Thank you for a job well done. When is the next update? He he

Well, today is Feb 10 and the "nook in store locator" still only shows if stores have demo units -- not if they have nooks in stock.

Don't feel bad . . . I called in today to get the one serviced that I broke, and they don't have any means to do repairs for $$$ yet either - just warranty, or the $ervice plan . . . .

These guys are losing all credibility.  As of the end of business today Thursday not a single store in San Antonio is carrying them.  Several employees laughed when I called...

I was disappointed that my local B/N didn't carry any accessories.  I realize that they didn't have the Nooks yet but their customer base was getting them, and I thought they should have carried covers at least.  I went online and ordered elsewhere as a result.  I also would prefer to have discounts that related to my nook when I visit a B/N-I don't care about a CD!

The Barnes and Noble at this address has them.  I bought one yesterday afternoon.  I love it!  :smileyhappy:

What I want to know is when BN is going to update their magazines and newspapers. Do they realize that not everyone that owns a Nook is an old business man? Seriously.

I finally received my Nook today after waiting for so long.  I must say that I am very disappointed with this new found gadget.  It froze on me several times in the first hour of learning the device.  The selection of ebooks was ok, not all the types of books that I enjoy reading were listed, but again that's ok, because I know in time they will come.  I do know though for several reason's I may not be keeping my Nook.  The freezing issue, the fact that the item is $250 + tax ($280.00) and it doesn't even have a back light.  You can buy a $4.00 watch and get a back light.  You have to buy an attachable book light that is not even in stock at this time.  The oh so big color touch screen, not very user friendly especially if you have nails or not so tiny fingers.  Why does the reader not have any color.  I just feel it is so plain, for the price and hassle you had to go through to get it.  I am a gadget person and I must say that this product is very disappointing to start off.   I can read ebooks on my blackberry, and it has a back light, and other options.  I also don't like the fact that they are charging a restocking fee unless it has a defect.  I think that would be fine if you returned it 30 days from the purchase date, but not within the first few days and the cashier didn't inform me of this, there was a piece of paper placed in the back with "info about the nook", so she said...lol...what a joke.  Will I say don't buy it, no because of course the concept is wonderful, I just feel it should come with more bells and whistles again for the price you pay for it. So maybe in time they will come out with a better version and maybe then I will try again.
