The Nook is not as good as Kindle. The color tool bar is slow and difficult to navigate. All prices are similar or identical to Kindle. The Loan Program is worthwhile, but you can only use it to other Nook owners, a big limitation. Only one at a time, too. For now, Kindle is better.

Has anyone else had this problem: when you select the 'My Documents' it sends you out to the main menu? my nook has been doing this to me since the new download and it's very frustrating as I have quite a few books in there that I bought at other sites, which is one of the things I love about the nook, the ability to buy books at more than just b&n ( after all b&n DOESN'T have everything!).

This is a great ereader, although I think they would sell more if they got them in all of the stores. The eye buys!! I almost bought the sony ereader, because I wanted it on the spot, but did not like the idea of having to plug up to my computer to get books.Love the Nook.

The issue with my documents not showing up the side loaded pdf just got resolved.
I unregistered the Nook.I reset to factory settings. This still had the version 1.2
Then re-registered it. It worked for me.
Hope it works for others too.

I've had my nook since January 13. Along the way I've purchased and read ebooks and downloaded PDF publications for both professional and personal use. But the greatest value for me is/was the ability to have my newspapers with me at all times in a portable yet readable form. And the feature of retaining the most recent 10 issues had huge value for me in many ways. The 1.2 upgrade came off without a hitch for me. I like the upgraded look and feel much better. In February and March I was a very happy nook owner.
But in the past few weeks, my newspapers stopped delivering automatically to The Daily. Still, no problem. 1-800-THE-BOOK instructed me that all I need to do is to "Check for new B&N content". OK, so now I needed to download my newspapers manually every day, but I still had my daily papers and the 10 most recent issues. Until last Friday (4/2). Now, although my past 10 issues still appear when I tap "Older issues", selecting any of them has no effect. All I can load and read is the current issue. I can still download older issues on line, but not on my nook. Rebooting has solved nothing.
So I've cancelled my subscriptions, and I'm disappointed to say that my nook has lost 80% of its value for me. The potential of this device was enormous. Its architecture and features, the use of Android, and the rich services of B&N could have propelled it to the top of the market. Its native capabilities, not fully exploited at release of course, could have been the base for a product that would make Kindle look silly. But the nook has failed not only to differentiate itself, but even to perform up to spec. What a disappointment.
Rich
P.S. Funny. The spell checker on this site chokes on the word "ebooks". I think this speaks volumes about the technical abilities at B&N. As a long-time customer, my strongest advice is to stick with brick and mortar.
