So, I'm trying to find out where the 1,000,000 books are coming from... I put in my entire library of over 200 books and found that B&N only has about 20% of those as an eBook while the Kindle (Amazon) has 50% of those books available online.
I checked out the eBook store on B&N and sorted things by price... assuming that one ebook can only fit into one category and doesn't go into the others (IE: Discounted doesnt count towards any other category).. these numbers show up..
Discounted - 30206
Under $10 - 78549
$10 - $15 - 13175
$15 - $25 - 347
Over $50 - 13
Total - 122,290
So does that mean that the other 900,000 books are free books, sample chapters or otherwise free content?

I have been wondering this as well.
I have emailed and tried to get an answer on the phone. The answers I received have all been "marketing speak."
One thing though. They never claimed to have "over one million books". They claim to have "over one million TITLES." This includes magazines and newspapers. That being said, I am still not able to find even close to "Over One Million Titles." Could a representative from B&N please give us a link to where we can find all of the "one million titles?"
Thank you for your time.
Kevin

I think they get that figure by including all the free books out there that may be used with nook. For example Project Gutenberg has over 100,000 books available, and you'll be able to load any of those to your nook once it arrives.

Yes. I think the "1 million" figure includes all of the free stuff from google books, gutenberg, etc.
I can't tell you how many times now I've found a title at both amazon and sony and have not seen it at BN.

Just search for "*", and you'll be able to see the full list, which currently returns 1,047,556 results.

Just to clarify, Gutenberg titles are not included in the B&N ebook library.
Only Google Books. The difference between these is that Project Gutenberg titles are carefully checked for errors, whilst Google Books often contain many, many errors.

And now that search pulls up 1,047,588

I did that search last night. Thank you for the advice. I did notice that while it is true there are over a million titles, some of those titles are the same. For example, Frankenstein by Mary Shelley was in there at least 3 times. And I only went through about 400 titles.
But then again, B&N did not say over one million UNIQUE titles.
