Battery life?

Is anyone else having a problem with battery life? I charge mine every night and keep wifi off but it still drains to 20% by the end of the day.. B&N promised 10 days without needing a charge

Any ideas? Help?

Re: Battery life?

Looks like i might be having the same problem. Did you figure out what to do? My battery life looks like it's going to be about 2 days of use. I charged it this morning and it is down to 58% tonight. I have only had this less than a week, but have noticed the problem right away.

Welcome!

As a start, you may wish to read through some of the other battery-related threads here on the board.  I believe they will answer most (if not all) of your questions.

There is still some debate about what you should do but this is what I have done.  I'm now getting 5+ days out of my battery reading about 1.5 hrs. per day.

1.  In the first week, battery life will really suck.

2.  Cycle your battery a couple of times; fully charge it, keep your nook on until your nook says that you MUST charge your battery (ignore the 20% and 10% warnings).

3.  Leave Airplane mode OFF and WiFi ON.  I know this is counterintuitive but I get better battery life with this configurarion.

4.  Ensure your touchscreen brightness is set to the lowest setting for your comfort (I have mine set at 2%.

5.  Set touchscreen sleep to 10 seconds.

6.  Turn off Auto-adjust brightness.

Try these and see if your battery life improves.

Re: Battery life?

"1. In the first week, battery life will really suck." The battery life the first week is so bad, they should have some kind of insert stating this. After running it down a few times, my last charge lasted me 8 days (very light reading.. but still). Whatever the battery software is doing to judge charge, out of the box it certainly has some learning to do.
