Downloading overseas

I'm a US resident and I travel alot. If I purchase the Nook and register it here in the USA will I be able to buy books overseas either via a WiFi connection in the country I'm in or through my laptop via www.barnesandnoble.com and then transfer them to the Nook?

Re: Downloading overseas

There are geographic restrictions on purchasing eBooks from bn.com so you can't purchase them on nook overseas. I'm pretty sure you can't buy them on bn.com either because they can tell where you are from your IP address. You may want to try other websites and load the ebooks onto nook via USB.

Re: Downloading overseas

Funny that there are no such restrictions on my purchase of paper books...shipping to Germany, Spain, Saudi Arabia...and the myriad other places I have been both in the military and since I retired.  I am currently living/working in Spain with the US military, and Amazon Kindle owners have no such restrictions.

I really prefer the nook, as I have long been a BN member, but if they refuse to support us over here, I may switch over to the other folks.  How is it that they can do this but not BN?

Re: Downloading overseas

The Kindle store also has geographic restrictions. People from outside the USA do not have access to a lot of books. Because Amazon uses the account information to determine the country of the buyer and not the IP-address, they can make an exception for people from the US that login from abroad.

A lot of people from outside the USA use this loophole and register with an USA address to have access to all the books in the Kindle store.
