I just wanted to know if, with any of the devices, there is going to be anything like half price books? One of the reasons why I would never buy a device like this is because there is no way for you to get discounted books. You can go to the thrift store and pick up a novel for 69 cents, but with this device you have to pay roughly $10 for every book you want to read.
Just wanted to know if something like that could happen.

Yeah... most cheap books tend to be public domain anyway, which means they're free in digital form.
The $10 books you speak of are [theoretically] only the new ones that are best sellers that cost $20-40, even the ones that end up at half price books are like $15-20 in their used form. [hardcovers]
Now, the paperback game is different. Yes, if you buy a used paperback [recent books], it's usually $4-6 or so [I've found]. B&N is usually more than this, so your point is well take.
Amazon's prices are pretty on par with the used market, more or less.
