Yes I took the plunge & got a sub. to Fictionwise. So far I have probably spent too much, but with the micro-rebates I'm getting almost if not all back.
Granted I have to spend it there, but what better way is there to read some great books at a decent price.
I can't wait till my nook gets here & I can download them all ![]()

Please bear with me... I'm new to this whole eBooks thing!
So where do the eBooks one purchases from Fictonwise reside? I have downloaded B&N's eReader for my PC... would they automatically go there or some other folder? (I don't think I can pass up those Micropay rebates!)
I notice that Fictionwise is a B&N company... I thought at one time I saw another eBook site that was also a B&N company. Does anyone know about that?
Even though our nooks are slow in arriving, I want to support B&N fully as that's the choice I've made for my foray into eBooks. I'll be purchasing most of my eBooks from B&N even if some of them are a little more expensive than elsewhere. As it stands even now, there are plenty of titles I can choose from at B&N and B&N sites to keep me glued to my nook for quite a while!
Season's eReading and a Merry eBook to all! ![]()

They will be going to my computer & then onto my nook when I get it.
It is owned by Barnes & Noble, so either way they are getting my money ![]()

The other company owned by BN is ereader.com. They have a rebate program too.

nook supports any content purchased or acquired from the Barnes & Noble eBook store. It also supports side-loaded content in ePub, PDF, PDB, and MP3 formats. The specific content that can be side-loaded and read may be limited by digital rights management (DRM) technology applied by the publisher.
All eBook content obtained from Fictionwise can be imported to nook via a memory card or USB port.
nook also allows you to create your own wallpaper and screensavers with JPG, PNG, GIF, or PMB images. At this time, nook does not support Word, text, or HTML files.

eReader is a B&N Company and it's whee I've always purchased my eBooks. They have a great Reward program which makes the eBools sometimes free or half price. They have their own eReader (free) which can be used on your PC or iTouch or whatever and since they are in PDF format, I understand we will be able to get them onto the Nook using the USB cord.

When we buy ebooks from Fiction wise do they show their covers on nook the way they will when we buy directly from Barnes & Noble? Love to know. Thanks.

Wow...that's stupid.
Sayin' it like it is.
This really needs to change. Cover art needs to be displayed for ALL files, not just ones purchased through B&N

I agree. I have the B&N ereader for the mac and when I download books from manybooks.net and open them on the e-reader their cover displays on that. I was hoping that they would display on the nook as well.

I own 312 eBooks from fictionwise and I think cover art for USB transferred or SD card ebooks should be the first item on the software upgrade list once the unit has been put into circulation.

I'm dating myself a bit here, but I remember loving fictionwise way back when I had my Rocket ebook reader. I really enjoyed their micro-rebates too, it made it fun to browse and strategize how to get the most 'bang for your buck'.
I've already re-downloaded all my old fictionwise purchases to my pc, and am looking forward to transferring them over to my nook when they arrive. There are an embarrassing number of them that I never got around to reading back then, so will have a few to catch up on for the first few weeks with my nook.

How is that possible? It is the same file format at fictionwise eReader format.
In order for cover art to show up in a eReader format book (.pdb) you need to include a .png graphic on the first page with a file name of cover.png
I know this works on the B & N software do display cover art in the list of titles because I have tested it.
Unless they have created the eReader software for Andriod to work differently, it seems like it should be the same. Besides, why would B & N sell different eReader format books from the B&N site and from Fictionwise and ereader.com, which they own? It would be silly for them to ask publishers to produce two versions of the same book format.

Please forgive my bluntness, Josh, but that is stupid. Are you really telling us that only an ebook purchased from B&N will have its cover displayed on Nook? Seriously? Or do you just not know?
This needs to be fixed by a software update that should be available immediately for Nook.
Regards,
MIchael

That is what I have been informed. We do appreciate all the feedback we get on the boards and hopefully we'll be able to consider suggestions such as yours for future system enhancements.
