I am thinking of recommending this to a library as an alternative to stocking up on out of print materials. Will the Nook have a problem being close to a strong magnet?

It is generally not a good idea to expose electronics to strong magnets. While this is an obvious problem for magnetic storage, it can also be a problem for digital displays and other circuitry.
I'd recommend against exposing any kind of eReader to strong magnetic fields.

is this like a magnet used to disable theft stickers or some other passive RFID sticker on the materials used at the library checkout ?
If not - please explain..... vague or simple question yields vague, simple, or incomplete answer
BTW - strong magnet is a relative term... Can it draw a set of keys from across the room ![]()

Yes, the kind of magnet used to temporarily disable the theft detection devices used in some libraries. I was keeping the question deliberately simple in case people were not aware that magnets will take out some of these devices.
Also, "will a magnet kill the Nook?" It is a simple question, not vague, simple.
