Re: Network unavailable

After succesfully downloading two books, I now get Network Unavailable as well.  I tried the 1-800-843-8665 digital support number given to another post and it was not a viable number.  Anyone have any suggestions?

Re: Network unavailable

Sorry about that, the number should be 1-800-843-2665 (1-800-THE-BOOK).

Before calling, you may want to try going into your Barnes & Noble online account and reentering your credit card and billing address information.  I've seen some feedback where this has helped when someone gets the "unable to connect" error.

Well B&N tech support blamed it on my network.  I then politely state that I disagree with them because every other wifi device in my house is able to connect.  These are the items I have connected to my wireless iPods, Wii, Xbox360, Laptops, Printers, Blue Ray, and the other stuff that I'm forgetting. :smileywink:

I'm using DD-WRT on both my router and my ap.   I have WPA2/AES and only allow mac address that I know onto my wireless.   My nook tells me that it's connected but when I actually go and try to purchase or browse.  I receive the "Network unavailable"

There were a couple other posts that suggest totally re-entering your account info on the web site, including removing and then re-adding your default CC solved this problem for others.

One guy even purchased an ebook (something cheap I presume) after doing this and from then on all worked correctly.

I'm not sure I would downgrade the OS, that seems like throwing gas on the fire if you ask me.

I might consider doing a factory reset (you will lose all content and have to re-download), but that

could leave you with nothing to read if you can't get downloading working.

Re: Network unavailable

Yep - Having to Side load too ..

I really think its due to the location ...

Yep - exactly the same - Cant connect to the library via wifi from outside the US.

BUT - It specifically says on the web site you can - theres now a fair chunk of us reporting this - Can we get the admins on this because Tech support have no Idea,

Network Unavailable

[ Edited ]

When I click on "Check for new B&N content" in My Library on my nook, I get the message "Checking for New Items. This will only take a moment". It then fails with the message "Network Unavailable. Please make sure you have network connectivity."

The strange thing is this - I know I do have Network connectivity because I can click on "Shop", then "Search" and do a Search for "clive cussler"  the Nook will successfully connect on my WiFi and report

Search Results
Products matching "clive cussler"
Displaying 1-10 of 24

Note: I am traveling outside USA. I understand from reading the FAQ's that while outside the USA, your already purchased books can be downloaded but you cannot make new purchases while outside the USA.

Does anyone else have this same problem and know a fix ? Please do share!
