Nook accessories

One of my primary uses of the Nook would be to take books on vacation to Mexico - specially for beach reading. It would be nice to have a cover which would allow me to read the Nook while protecting the entire unit from sand and dust.

Re: Nook accessories

You can see the available accessories here.  There are a number of covers and frames that would likely provide some protection from the elements.

Re: Nook accessories

Thanks for the response. But I'm not looking for "some" protection. If you're reading on a windy beach with various open plugs on the bottom of the Nook, you're asking for trouble. Just how will those plug-ins work if they have sand in them?

Re: Nook accessories

It looks like all of the covers purposefully keep from covering the two opnings -- the mini-usb and the mini stereo plug.

Have you considered just placing the nook inside a sealed ziploc bag when at the beach?

You could also cut the cord off of a usb cable and a cheap set  of headphones, leaving just the plugs -- plug them in at the beach.

Re: Nook accessories

For beach reading you might want to buy a waterproof map case or use a ziploc baggie. Both of these things have been proven to keep sand and water out of other ereaders, and the nook's touchscreen should work through both.

Re: Nook accessories

Will there be a case or cover for the Nook that will hold the usb cord and the light?

Thanks! I'll have to try the ziploc bag; that is not a bad idea unless it makes the print hard to read. I've been covering my kindle openings with Scotch tape at the beach.

Try this. It is made for the Kindle 2, but you could write them and ask if the Nook would fit inside it.

scroll down to the bottom of the page. for the waterproof case.

trendydigital.  they make a waterproof Kindle case for this very reason. Maybe they can accommodate you in some way.  Just a thought.

Re: Nook accessories

I wouldn't bring it to the beach, sand could do a lot of damage if it gets inside.....bring a good book on the beach and enjoy your Nook at home or on the airplane or in the hotel room, why push your luck. Had a friend that just came bak fron Naples Florida and was happy the Nook was left at home. It got quite windy down there. Unless your going to put in a glad loastic back , seal it and read from there.:womanwink:
