Reading "Holidays on Ice", by David Sedaris, last night, I found that my nook was skipping some pages. I couldn't view page 10 (pressing next page from pg 9 went right to 11), or pages 61-65. I tried archiving and unarchiving the ebook, but the same thing happened. I also found when I was on pg 11, trying to go back a page didn't work at all, but from page 12 it jumped back to page 9. Looking at the ebook on my iPhone, it was all there, so it doesn't seem to be a problem with the source ebook file.

I'ts a common issue for alot of people (for the ones that can actually download on their nook).
I saw David Sedaris do a live reading before with my girlfriend.. very entertaining. I realize he is much more of a disturbed person then I originally thought he was portrayed as. I definately recommend going to one if possible!

Same problem here. Elsewhere on this board I read where somebody changed the font size while on the last "good" page and it worked. I tried it and it did let me page to the next page, but it is not showing page numbers.
Also I have many other problems too. I get the feeling we early adapters are the guinea pigs.

guys - try reading the manual.
epub files are paginated based on a hardcopy of book. So even when you change the font/size on the nook, the page numbers remain the same. Due to this however, that means that based on your font selection you may be seeing less than or more than one physical "page" on your screen at one time, so a single press of the nook's next page button may not advance the page # indictor, or it may advance it more than one page.
On the other hand, PDB files are NOT paginated based on the hardcopy, and therefore the page numbering will CHANGE every time you adjust the font/size, and each press on the "next" button will correspond exactly with one nook page number.
Im not sure if i am explaining it clearly, but i do know it is explained in the manual.

Changing the font does seem to work...also, the page numbers do show up (for me) after a few minutes. My guess is that the book is repaginating in the background.
I'm sure there is a patch coming for this issue soon...

Hey everyone. Thanks for all the feedback. I wanted to let everyone know that we've been in contact with our product development team and a fix is being worked on for this. Right now, we've been told to expect something within the next 7 days.
In the meantime, changing the font size does seem to temporarily deal with the problem.

Thanks JoshW... I honestly hadn't realized something was wrong, I just thought I had hit the page button on accident the first time in the book it happened as I am re-reading a book I've read several times for my first Nook experience. The second time it was a 15 page jump and REALLY noticeable. I look forward to a fix and am LOVING my Nook so far.

I just experienced this issue so I hope the update is coming ASAP! This seems like a really bad bug; is it that hard for the development team to use unit tests to avoid issues like this?

So I too am getting the missing page problem -- Neuromancer, page 33 jumps to 55 (start of chapter two) -- but here's where it gets weird -- when I hit the back button, nothing visible happens, after a second press, it randomly sends me either page 12 or page 18.
I hope they credit our accounts with some digital love for the free alpha testing we seem to be providing for them

Did you try changing the font as mentioned above?

I work for a software company and I can tell you that the Barnes & Noble QA department can test till the cows come home...and STILL something will show up when it's released into the wild. It seems simple at first glance, but you can't imagine the complexity of testing for every possible combination of events.
Also, having a promised patch in seven days is lightning fast in the coding world. Bravo BN!

Same here, Pride & Prejudice Volume 3 Chapter 5, skips the last 10 pages. Goes from page 663 to 674, pressing back once does nothing, pressing again sends it back 20 pages to 654.
I figured I wasn't the only person experiencing this but I am glad to have confirmation, and to know that they are working on it.
I didn't try changing the font size though, I just read the missing pages on my iPhone.

Erm, I also work in software and it's not that hard. Naturally bugs will show up but something like pages actually being skipped? That should be an obvious unit test to me.... but that doesn't matter now. Changing the font works (I like a smaller font anyway) but I hope this is fixed soon.

I don't agree it should be obvious, it only seems to be happening with a few titles. If the development people used titles that were not acting silly on there nooks? Then no problem to fix ![]()
