Since 1997, you’ve been coming to BarnesandNoble.com to discuss everything from Stephen King to writing to Harry Potter. You’ve made our site more than a place to discover your next book: you’ve made it a community. But like all things internet, BN.com is growing and changing. We've said goodbye to our community message boards—but that doesn’t mean we won’t still be a place for adventurous readers to connect and discover.

Now, you can explore the most exciting new titles (and remember the classics) at the Barnes & Noble Book Blog. Check out conversations with authors like Jeff VanderMeer and Gary Shteyngart at the B&N Review, and browse write-ups of the best in literary fiction. Come to our Facebook page to weigh in on what it means to be a book nerd. Browse digital deals on the NOOK blog, tweet about books with us,or self-publish your latest novella with NOOK Press. And for those of you looking for support for your NOOK, the NOOK Support Forums will still be here.

We will continue to provide you with books that make you turn pages well past midnight, discover new worlds, and reunite with old friends. And we hope that you’ll continue to tell us how you’re doing, what you’re reading, and what books mean to you.

Nook won't let me unlock the book!!

I've typed in all the requested info, name and cc but it says user credentials progress...failed.  UGGGH. I've talked to 2 different digital technical support people and they say they don't understand why it won't unlock.  A manager was supposed to call me back today, but no phone call!! I can't use this thing and I can't get any technical help! I am on hold AGAIN for technical support.

Hello Barnes and Noble, do you care about your customer's? It appears not. I can't read the book and I can't get help. I'm close to telling customer service that I just want to send this back and receive a credit. I hate to complain, but really this service of B & N is atrocious!!!

Re: Nook won't let me unlock the book!!

Same problem here. Been reading and downlaoding books..then last night, ordered a book started it and now locked up and tells me user credentials failed....etc... Same name same default credit card. Terminal hold on phone for tech support. Very frustrating.

Re: Nook won't let me unlock the book!!

I had the same problem, and then tried putting in my middle initial (which on my credit card, but not on my ereader.com profile name) into the first name line and it worked, unlocking my ereader books.

Re: Nook won't let me unlock the book!!

You should delete and re-add your default credit card.

Make sure it is the SAME credit card that was the default at the time you downloaded.

Note that it may or may not be the same credit card you actually used to make the purchase.  That card does not matter, only the default matters.

Some people have reported that simply deleting and adding fixes things.  You can also download the book again after doing this (might have to archive first).  Each time you download/unarchive it re-encrypts the book with your current default credit card.

Then make sure you type it into the nook exactly the same as you did on the B&N site.  Some have reported leaving out middle initials works regardless of what is on the card.

Re: Nook won't let me unlock the book!!

This just happened to me. I finally got it to work by downloading the file onto my computer and adding it to my nook manually from there. I hope this gets straightened out soon though.
