Uhhh... so let me get this straight.  you were one of the first to order...they're upgrading you to overnight shipping...and you should be getting it by December 9th???

Did I miss something?  Looks to me like that's a pretty sneaky way of saying, "We're sorry but your nook isn't shipping until the 7th."

They said at the latest December 9th. But that worked out. With the $10 off code I cancelled my matte cover and nook case and re ordered with the $10 off.

It's not really a shipping confirmation.  It's a "shipping soon" and "expect" to have it to you by December 9th update.  Which means the same thing as the "Expected Ship Date: November 30, 2009" that I received in October when I pre-ordered.  But again, November 30th was a "Expected Ship Date".  I waited a lot longer when I bought my wife a Kindle.

The overnight upgrade is fine, but the fact that they are missing the long promised Nov. 30 date is a bit of a let down, especially with no notification. How hard would it have been to just post the fact that due to whatever the Nook ship day has to be moved forward.

UH WTF B&N.  Ordered Oct 24th and you said ship date is TODAY!!!  Now I get an email saying I won't get it until Dec 9th.  Oh, but you'll throw in a $10 gift card.  That makes it Ok.  Come on dudes.  Major letdown.  But WIcked excited none the less, even if I have to wait a little longer.

I got the same email. Yeah it says December 9th but on your order status it does say "EXPECTED ship date" expected meaning not set in stone... subject to change.... Yes I am bummed that I probably won't be getting a tracking number in the morning, but at least we know its coming! Big companies have to push dates all the time. For all we know it could be the sender (fedex, UPS, snailmail... whatever) Lets all take a deep breath and be thankful for what we have, and that we will be getting nook SOON!

Come on now guys this isn't too long of a wait. I pre-ordered a fitbit end of September, ship date was supposed to be end of October, now it's end of January So an extra couple days isn't that bad, atleast for me it's not.

Mine is now the 14th.  Not happy but I'll survive.  I ordered mine on 10/26 and so I'll just keep waiting.  No big deal, it's not life and death to me.

I'm usually willing to give B&N the benefit of the doubt BUT I have to say, this is NOT a shipping confirmation. It is a poorly worded way of saying "Sorry we blew it and never had the damn things ready on the 30th despite all our promises to the contrary". 

Why they waited until today to admit they screwed up is beyond me.  I am royally pissed. Pissed enough to cancel?  No.  But I'm extremely disappointed. 

That said, I do find the prospect of the people paying gobs more for it on eBay for supposed pre-Christmas delivery to be humorous considering they may now not get their nooks in time.

I just got "the email" and mine says Dec 14th, which makes sense since I didn't order until Oct 29th.

I hate to say I told you so but I told you!  I'm ordering a K2 tonight and putting my nook on ebay when it arrives if it arrives in time to put it under someone's tree by Christmas.  Otherwise, I'll just send it back.

Maybe with my ebay proceeds I'll make enough to pay for the kindle and buy a nook in the new year, which I still want because I'm an android developer.  But I seriously think B&N just lost me as a serious e-book customer.  Not that it really matters to them...there're plenty of fools left out there.
