So Frustrated!

I opened up my Nook super excited and after a day with it I am going to be taking back to our nearest Barnes & Noble on Monday! I have updated it to the latest version and here is the list of problems I am having with it:

 

1. Random crashes and returns to the home page.

2. Will not download the books I have purchased. Gives an error code on both the 3G and Wifi.

3. Freezes necessitating hard reboot. 

 

All of these problems render it unusable to me. I am very upset I wasted 20.00 dollars of a 45.00 e-book giftcard on books I cannot even read! The will not even download onto my PC or Mac either. I paid $350.00 (including upgraded insurance) for an attractive paperweight. I am just going to wait for the pending Apple tablet announcement because even if it is more money than the Nook at least I will have a usable product! I cannot in good conscience recommend this product to anyone!

There are al-qaeda members in caves in Afghanistan hacking into predator drones with a Palm Pilot and a Yahoo mail account, but we can't download a simple file from a U.S. server that's designed to do it with this high-tech gadget.  Amazing.  And to top it off, the problem has been ongoing for about 12 hours now and not a single word from BN!?

 

If BN customer service were an Italian cheese, it would be called garbaggio.

 


Don't buy from Random House, Macmillan, or Penguin until the agency model is COMPLETELY dead.

Concur with you all - I am having exact same problems - buying books, no downloads.   And call customer support - they are closed.   This is a joke,   mine is going back as well and I'll also wait for the Apple tablet

right there with ya.  ready to return it.  i understand that a lot of people are downloading at once but seriously, didn't we all know that was going to happen...why weren't they prepared and why no positing dealing with the issue.  was annoyed with the initial dealy, the fact that they didn't address it until it was alreay late, and the fact that they were only offer ingcompensation if received after 12/24...not all were for christmas gifts...some were for B-days and didn't even receive the certificate announcing the gift until too late.

Another option, although obviously not an ideal one, is to download a free, or purchase, a book from another site and load it onto your Nook.  That should at least keep you from nuking your Nook tonight.
