The Life of Nook and Upgrades?

Hello,

I was wondering about the life of Nook?  How long are the expected to work? 3 years, 5 years, etc.

And if Nook gets a face lift later will we be able to upgrade on our Nook or we forced to buy another one?

I would hate to invest my money in this if it is going to be short lived.

Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately few details are available that would satisfactorily answer either of your questions.  I'm not sure about the longevity of the device, that would require some time to find out (and it's release), unless an admin or someone on BN has the stress test info available.

I'm somewhat confused by your "facelift" question;  if you mean upgrades to the OS or firmware of the device, then yes it is technically feasable to do some upgrades over the air.  However, I've not seen concrete evidence pointing to the fact that BN does indeed plan to do that.  If you mean an overall aesthetic design - then I would imagine you'd have to buy a new one just as if it were a new Kindle, TV, car, refrigerator, iPod, computer, etc.

interesting questions.....

Here's a reverse question for you -What kind of computer are you using right now ?

and then answer your same questions for it - -

Since these readers are basically special computers, there may be firmware upgrades in the future like on any of these personal electronic devices....  that would be natural..... vs a TV or toaster
