Troubleshooting my Nook

The time on my nook is off by about 14 hours n' 32 min.  I read on a different thread on here it just connects w/ the wi/fi n' knows my time.  Yeah,  obviously not.  Does anyone know how to change it??

Also,  does anyone else's screen flash a few times before it actually changes over to whatever new screen you want?  I just got mine today and.....I'm not completely sure it's living up to it's "World's most advanced reader" title :smileysad:

Re: Troubleshooting my Nook

Every e-reader that uses e-ink has a page refresh like that.  It's part of the technology.

As for the time, mine automatically changed.  You might want to go into your Library and "Check for New Content".  That'll force your nook to sync up with your WiFi or 3G wireless.  At that point, it should change the clock.

MissRobinT:

The time is set when it connects to a cellular network, not a wifi network.

So it needs to find an ATT signal, preferably a direct one, and not via their Roaming Partners.

Click this map to see if ATT is in your area:

Early versions of the software had a lot of flash on page changes.  Versions 1.1.0 and 1.1.1 don't flash as much.  See: http://www.barnesandnoble.com/nook/support/

Re: Troubleshooting my Nook

As always, icebike is there with the answers.  *lol*

To add:  Even with the most recent software update, there is still *some* flash when you change pages or go to different functions, about half a second (pre-update it was closer to a full second, I'd judge).  This is normal behavior for all eReaders with "electronic ink" displays; the tradeoff for this being extremely low power consumption and a readable display without backlighting.
