eReader on iPod Touch

I've downloaded and read a book on my iPod Touch.  Now I want to go back to the main page and select another book but it won't let me.  I tap "Books" on the screen and it takes me temporarily back to the Books page, the screen flashes, and I go back to the iTouch main screen.  Help.

Re: eReader on iPod Touch

Dear steve53:

I've just heard from our eBooks team regarding the problem you've encountered. They suggest that you completely remove the app from the device and then re-install. They were also wondering which iPod OS you're using -- if the re-install doesn't do the trick perhaps you can post that info, and I'll follow up with them.

Re: eReader on iPod Touch

I had the same problem, the barnes and noble ereader wouldn't allow me to open up a new book.  Reinstalling it on my ipod touch fixed it.:smileyhappy:

Re: eReader on iPod Touch

Re-installing does fix it, however that also deletes any notes, highlights, etc, so that's kind of annoying.  Hope you can fix it it.  Otherwise I really like the reader.

Re: eReader on iPod Touch

We are "further down the road" and I had the same problem today that others had back in September. Couldn't get "back to the directory" - there is one on the iPod Touch (with categories) (unlike a soon to be released device). I reinstalled the app and it takes me back to page one of all my books. Seems to me that two months is a long time for you people to straighten out this problem. I'm a little worried about B&N's ebook future if they can't attend to "small" problems like this. Why are we still dealing with essentially a "beta" application.

Re: eReader on iPod Touch

On my itouch, when I go to my on-line library, the app closes and I have to go back in.

Re: eReader on iPod Touch

Delete and reinstalling on both my ipod touch (Ver 3.1.2) and Itunes (Ver 9) does not fix the problem on my device either.  It still keeps crashing and is rather annoying that I spent money on a book and can't read it now.  :smileysad:

Re: eReader on iPod Touch

First book I purchased worked great, thought "Great app". Then the problems began. I purchased a second and third book. Download went smooth and then I could open one and it would work great. Close and relaunch was not happy. Load screen and back to touch menu. repeat. repeat. I have deleted the app and re-installed several times, around eight. I can d/l books and read a few pages. As soon as I close the app and try to reopen, I get the "load screen of death". Load screen and back to touch main menu. repeat many times. I really like the app when it works, fix it please.

Re: eReader on iPod Touch

There are several threads running about a problem with the ereader on the ipod touch or iphone as well as on the mac.  This post is from an older problem but there is a new issue that started a week or so ago.  I dont see an admin responding on any of them.  There are a lot of people unable to read books that they purchased and BN does not seem to be addressing the issue.

Is anyone looking into this?

Re: eReader on iPod Touch

Apparently (IMO) it seems they have the same cut and paste email sent to everyone that has complained to their customer service department. This one came to me this morning. It does not address the fact that I spent money on books that I can't read at all or the fact that they are willing to either A) give us something for the inconvenience or B) Are actually working on this problem (as is the evidence that this problem has been going on for over 3 weeks now).
This email I have seen others post on the forums as well. Im a bit disappointed that a big company takes money for books that can only be used for a none working app !

Dear Customer,

Thank you for your email regarding the difficulties you are experiencing
with our eReader.

We are aware of this problem and are working diligently to resolve it.
Please check back often as we hope to correct this situation shortly.

Please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience this may have
caused.

Sincerely,

Amri

Re: eReader on iPod Touch

Ok so I guess we just have to wait.  With all the problems with the Mac and iPod eReaders and the Nook, I wonder how long this will take?

Re: eReader on iPod Touch

Good news to those of us having problems with the eReader for the iPod touch.  I was finally able to update my BN ereader to 1.1.2 and all of my new books are now working.  I wish I knew what finally made the difference. What I did was download the ereader thru itunes from the app store.  I removed it from the iPod and then reinstalled it again from iTunes.  This time, it worked.  Maybe B&N finally caught up and fixed this one.
