Re: iPad and iBooks-- Reactions to the iPad's eReader functionality?

If b&n or amazon thinks they can raise their prices due to apple's maxipad, they have another thing coming.  I will obtain my books from other sources for the absolute price of free.

Total books on my nook:  59

Total price paid:  $0.00

"They have another thing coming"? What is that, exactly -- the loss of your purchases? Considering you go on to mention that you've spent exactly $0 on eBooks, I don't think anyone is concerned about losing your business.

Re: iPad and iBooks-- Reactions to the iPad's eReader functionality?

I think it's apples and oranges. Different products, use, sizes, screens, price range.  I can see for people that want PDF's that view full size and can zoom in/out this is huge. For folks that aren't happy with the nook because you can't tweet yet or watch HD movies, this is good news.

Don't forget BN, Kindle, Kobo will all be selling books through their iPhone +++ apps :smileyhappy:  It's a big iPhone - look at it, same design, OS, button positions, app store, development model.

If you aren't sure about which you want read my blog, it might help. iPad or nook? The Big Question!

if stanz updates their reader for the i-pad, it will be a fantastic e-reader. the bn eraeder softwear would be rebuilt to work on i-pod and i-phone but they would be able to epdate for the i-pad at same time. further mor apple supports their stuff a lot better and faster than bn seems to want to and/or is able to.

i agree with what you wrote that the iPad wouldn't have been as useful if it didn't have a physical keyboard or access to Word, but the thing is, it does, it wasn't super publicized but it was at the end of Jobs presentation that you can buy a physical keyboard (that was a major surprise) and although it is running on the iphone OS they made the iworks suite compatible and you can run "pages" instead of Word, so although not exactly writing in word it would be fully compatible and you can clean up your 'pages" doc in word later..
