If I uninstall the program and reinstall it it works fine, until I load the book on Mexican Cooking named Authentic Mexican by Rick Bayless. Once I load that book the trouble starts. No other book gives me trouble. I've rebooted the iPhone, reinstalled the program and no go for that book. That book works fine in the pc ereader program for what it's worth. I've tried to redownload it with no changes.

I bought the new Michael Crichton book today, had to run the update. Now when I tap on the book in my list the app terminates, or I get to the part where I unlock and it terminates. No problem with the older downloads from my library. What's up with that update??

Your terminate is what I meant by crash. I think maybe we should report it as a bug.

I'm a newbie here, so I don't know the bug reporting procedures, but I agree. Tried the download on the wife's iPhone and got the same behavior. And we are running the newest iPhone OS.

I am having the same crash issue. It is very frustrating, and it needs to be reported as a bug. I hate that I just bought a book to read and relax in bed to find that my app needed updating, so I do and now it just crashes as soon as I get in.
I hate using Kindle for iPhone, but I am tired and just want to lay in bed with a cup of tea and read.
I certainly hope this will be fixed soon, so I don't have to waste any MORE money buying from amazon.

After having no problems viewing samples, I decided to finally buy a book. I can't read more than 20-25 pages before it freezes and won't work anymore. I bought the book just after doing the app update and while I am happy to know it's not just me, I'm not happy that I spent money on something I can't enjoy.

I dont use the eReader app, but one thing I have learned from many other apps on my iPhone, is that more often than not it is better to delete the old app and fresh-install the new one, rather than upgrade.
Also, I have learned my iPhone likes a nice hard-reboot after a lot of app additions/deletions. Seems to clear the cobwebs.

I loved the iPhone e-reader. Until I was forced to do the update yesterday to open a new purchase.
I deleted and re-installed. Twice. Once the app opened and kept freezing in the book. Now it will not open at all. Emailed support yesterday but have received no reply. I have bought and read 50 books on my iPhone with no problem until now.

This is the case for me as well. I've unistalled and reinstalled several times, doing phone reboots along the way.

I've done the reboot and reinstall as well, the app just has problems dealing with certain things. In my case as long as I don't open that cookbook it works fine, open it and the trouble begins.

Somewhere around 12/10 or 12/11 the problem disappeared without updates. Could the Nook release have something to do with it? Servers overloaded? A warning or immediate explanation would have been good PR.

this has been a widely reported problem ... both here on the help board and then on the iTunes app store....
the program doesn't work ... they updated it on the 5th of December and if you upgrade it wont work ...
