nook says downloading update!!! [ Edited ]

Maybe this is the update they were talking about.  I had just finished an ebook, went to archive then got this message: downloading update. Did anyone else get this? Afterwards my nook restarted itself!! I'm thinking the updates have started!

I was just checking these forums to see if there was any news about an update, then turned mine on, and a little box appeared in the lower right corner that said "downloading update!" It's still running!

That's what happened to mine, then I checked the software version under settings and it has moved from 1.0 to 1.1.

It's done, software now says version 1.1.0. So far, the extra step to chose "Read" when you select a book in your library is gone, and when you select "reading now" it does not say "formating"... Hope battery life improves, but I am disappointed to see that there still isn't an option to go to a specific page or location in a book, especially since the update caused the nook to lose my place in the book I was reading.

Ok, I'm watching mine, talking nicely to it, speaking encouraging words, but so far....  Nothing. 

I suppose they are sending the updates in serial number order or some such  so as not to slashdot their own servers.  I Wonder if I leave it on will it just do it without any intervention and suprize me in the morning?

Yeah, how are you getting this update? My nook is just sitting there, doing nothing. What did you do to prompt this? Anything?

Are page turns faster?

Does it reformat each time you enter the same book..

Page turns are faster,  and no formatting to go back to the book that I was reading, pretty cool actually.

Is your nook now able to remember the page you left off at?

There are very few people that had a problem with page remembering.  Mine always worked flawlessly in this regard.

I'm hoping that doesn't get broken in the new release.  Mine hasn't downloaded yet.

I didn't have that problem to begin with Tome-Reader, after update, my nook  remembered where I had left off in the eBook I was reading. Don't forget to keep your 3G/wifi whichever you use, on for update.

No update here...makes me wonder if the yahoos who hacked this thing and got it working for essentially free web access actually had the right idea, since I personally can't read books on it yet.

Received my update this morning after turning off Airplane mode, from want of saving my battery life. I'm at work so cannot really provide any sense of what it has done for me. Seems a bit more perky, after two minutes of playing with it. Leaving Airplane mode off to see if they did anything about battery life. It would have been nice if they posted the list of fixes/updates in the Daily. Does anyone know where the definitive list of fix/update is located? Thanks.

Got my update around 11:30pm EST last night. I breathed a sigh of relief that it still seems to be working perfectly.  As I haven't had any issues (quick response, saves my place in all the books I'm reading, no download issues, etc) I was really worried that something would get scrambled after the update, but it appears I've lucked out twice!

As for changes here's what I see:

1. Read option gone from book selection in library

2. Page numbers have been moved to the bottom

3. Clock is now shown in upper right hand corner when reading (THANK YOU B&N).

4. Doesn't show "formatting" when selecting reading now.

I'm sure there's other changes - but that's I'll I've seen so far.

Both of my nooks starting downloading the updates at about 9:30 am (EST) after I hit the button for "Check for new B&N content" (or whatever it says). Sweet.

My update is coming right now.  Switched to WIFI as 3g was dog slow, I only had two bars.

After the download the nook will reboot.  Be patient this takes a few more minutes than normal.

I have 1.27GB available on the internal memory both before and after the upgrade.

My nook is much faster after the update. A little faster in its page turns, but it's mostly in the LCD responsiveness where I see improvements.

HOWEVER, I have two big complaints:

1) How in the bloody h*ll is "My Documents" ordered now? It used to be by author, but now there is no discernable pattern to it. What the heck?

2) My nook is still unable to distinguish between my two volumes of F. Scott Fitzgerald short stories. Digital Support implied that this would be fixed by the update. They also implied that the same bug was responsible for some people getting only a sample instead of the full eBook in cases where they bought the full book after browsing the sample. If this update fixed the sample problem, then what's still causing the hangup with my nook and its confusion over multi-volume sets?

for those asking how to do the update, mine would not do it in the daily. I had to drop to my library, and "Check B&N for new content" and then it started the download.
