Has anyone's nook been making a popping noise when you use the power butter to wake it up? I am not sure if this is normal and I am just now noticing it.

Is the noise mechanical or does it come from the speakers?
I've never experienced it though so I would say it is not normal.

Mine not only does it when using the power but on, but also randomly when it's supposedly asleep. I plan to contact tech support as soon as I get the time. My battery life is also far shorter than the advertised 2 weeks, so I think this is affecting it.

Both my nook and my partner's nook do this. It's the speakers coming online that do it. Nothing to worry about.

It doesn't matter if you turn the speakers all the way down, I suspect the popping is caused during initialization of the audio curcuit of the nook. As there is no physical volume control "turning it down" doesn't help. Most computers have a subtle "pop" you can hear in the speakers when you turn them on and their audio cards come online.

This makes sense, and it would affect battery life. It should not be initializing the audio circuit randomly when it's supposed to be asleep, but if it is, then that would make the battery life less. And honestly, the noise wakes me up. I'm a light sleeper and don't want to have to take the nook out of the room before going to sleep since I use reading to fall asleep.
Do the tech people ever read these messages?

i never listen to audio, i'd be happy to have a switch in the settings to disable it completely until one day i may want it. like airplane mode.
