Dialogue: "Let Me Count the Ways"

Read the excerpt from Let Me Count the Ways in Creating Romantic Characters (page 137). How effective was the dialogue at drawing you into the story?

I am curious about no photographs of the missing daughter. How old is the daughter, old enough for Sara to be Olivia's granddaughter?

Does Adam travel so much that the items just stay in his suitcase waiting for the next trip?

It is good show, better than just telling us what was in his suitcase, showing us in dialogue and action.

One thing, she called him Adam in one thing. When I use the character's name in the dialogue, my crit people tell me that people don't talk that way.

I need to find my book, or a copy of this book, and finish reading it to discover what he has to blackmail her about, since they are even now.

If Leigh were to write this today, he would put a laptop on the desk. He could go on the internet to search for a photograph of Pamela.

Knowing so little of the story, the bit about the dog got me into it. It's personal and interesting. Tells about the characters in a unique way.

And remember the dog for when we have a discussion later on about foreshadowing... :smileywink:

I'm reediting Let Me Count The Ways right now -- it should be available as an e-book in a month or so -- and remembering how much fun I had writing it. Aaaah.....
