Since 1997, you’ve been coming to to discuss everything from Stephen King to writing to Harry Potter. You’ve made our site more than a place to discover your next book: you’ve made it a community. But like all things internet, is growing and changing. We've said goodbye to our community message boards—but that doesn’t mean we won’t still be a place for adventurous readers to connect and discover.

Now, you can explore the most exciting new titles (and remember the classics) at the Barnes & Noble Book Blog. Check out conversations with authors like Jeff VanderMeer and Gary Shteyngart at the B&N Review, and browse write-ups of the best in literary fiction. Come to our Facebook page to weigh in on what it means to be a book nerd. Browse digital deals on the NOOK blog, tweet about books with us,or self-publish your latest novella with NOOK Press. And for those of you looking for support for your NOOK, the NOOK Support Forums will still be here.

We will continue to provide you with books that make you turn pages well past midnight, discover new worlds, and reunite with old friends. And we hope that you’ll continue to tell us how you’re doing, what you’re reading, and what books mean to you.

A welcome to those who are joining us

Now that the book club has been up and running for a couple of months -- and boy, it doesn't seem that long! -- it may look a bit daunting and overwhelming to people who are joining us for the first time right now.

Please don't be put off by the size and breadth of the discussion. You are welcome. We want you!

You can jump in anywhere and work in any section of the board. If you'd like to take a systematic approach I suggest doing the topics in this order:

1. What Romance Is -- an introduction to romance novels.
2. Heroines and their Heroes -- getting to know your main characters.
3. Secondary Characters -- adding others to your story.
4. Conflict -- adding problems for your characters.
5. POV -- handling point of view in telling your story.
6. Dialogue -- letting your characters have a say.

We'll be adding other threads as time goes on.

Though one topic at a time is at the top of the board, I read everything that's posted, and a lot of other participants are doing the same thing, so your posts will be seen no matter where you're working.

Again, welcome! If you've joined the party late, grab a virtual drink and a handful of goodies, ignore the noise made by all the people who've been here a while :smileywink: and introduce yourself. We're happy to have you.

Happy writing,
