A short story

The armies of Kupk stood fast as the Queen spoke of their enemy, the Jateys, the blood crazy savages. The first of the troops took off through the tunnels to the surface where they entered the jungles of Gruttess. General Hunds checked over his soldiers as the humid weather beat down on them. Traveling through these jungles would take three days, testing the soldiers to their limits. Travel was hard but the moral was high, “For the Queen, for Kupk.” As they reached the enemy’s fortress, the alarms rang, signaling the Jateys of their arrival. The Jateys set up their defenses awaiting an attack. General Hunds signaled his soldiers to prepare for the attack. Spears soared through the air, rocks shot out crushing the blockades. Both sides charged one another as a shadow was crossing over them. The jungles crashed down upon them crushing everything in sight. General Hunds looked down at his bloody destroyed body, he looked around at his soldiers seeing only death, and hearing the cries of pain. As General Hunds lay down to die, he thought of his home, his family, and his country. He had failed the Queen, he had failed his country, and he had disgraced his family’s name. With his last breath he cried “For the Queen, for Kupk” as John got into his car and drove away.

Re: A short story

Hah! I thought it might be about ants when you talked about tunnels to the surface -- was I right?
