Since 1997, you’ve been coming to BarnesandNoble.com to discuss everything from Stephen King to writing to Harry Potter. You’ve made our site more than a place to discover your next book: you’ve made it a community. But like all things internet, BN.com is growing and changing. We've said goodbye to our community message boards—but that doesn’t mean we won’t still be a place for adventurous readers to connect and discover.

Now, you can explore the most exciting new titles (and remember the classics) at the Barnes & Noble Book Blog. Check out conversations with authors like Jeff VanderMeer and Gary Shteyngart at the B&N Review, and browse write-ups of the best in literary fiction. Come to our Facebook page to weigh in on what it means to be a book nerd. Browse digital deals on the NOOK blog, tweet about books with us,or self-publish your latest novella with NOOK Press. And for those of you looking for support for your NOOK, the NOOK Support Forums will still be here.

We will continue to provide you with books that make you turn pages well past midnight, discover new worlds, and reunite with old friends. And we hope that you’ll continue to tell us how you’re doing, what you’re reading, and what books mean to you.

Discount at Gotham Writers Workshop

[ Edited ]
As you know, instead of continuing indefinitely, this class will be over at the end of the month. However, I am teaching the Gotham Writers Workshop introductory course on Science Fiction Writing this summer. The course starts on July 10th and continues for ten weeks. This is an intense and quickly-paced workshop for people who are truly interested in writing s.f. and fantasy (I do cover fantasy, although the brunt of the class is science fiction). You can get more information about the class here: Science Fiction Writing.

The home page for Gotham is WritingClasses.com

Because this Barnes & Nobel class is ending so unexpectedly, I have asked the folk at Gotham if they can extend a discount to any of you who want to take my intro course. The registrar at Gotham wrote:
If they took Science Fiction at B&N, they can use the promo code: BN50-SF to get a $50 discount on their first 10-week class. They should enter the promo code at the online registration form - or of course they can call us to register over the phone (toll-free at 877-974-8377).
I apologize again for the unexpected ending of this class. Even if you can't join me at Gotham, I wish you the very best in your writing careers.

That was awfully nice of you! I wish I could sign up for that one but my summer's already pretty overwhelming. I hope to take that one from you some day in the future though!

I'm sorry I can't participate this summer, too. Work and finances prevent it.
