The science fiction behind my idea is that a new communications device, “The Telemind” has been invented. Rather than communicating just what is allowed by words and normal, currently available communications methods, the Telemind provides the capability to record a thought and feeling in its entirety. Then, it provides the ability to read that thought and feeling. Not sending the though as in telepathy. But, reading it as if it were a book, a voice-mail, or a DVD. Since the device is in its infancy, its uses are still being explored.

My protagonists are a couple who’ve started using a home version of this device. It’s causing problems because we don’t communicate everything we feel; we hide much of our thoughts and feelings, to everyone’s benefit. This device lays those feelings bare. The story is them dealing with those problems.
