Re: To Ziki and Bob: EH

Pmath, I'm glad you've been here all along as a silent observer. Oops! I've been spending too much time on the Whitman page!

Ha! I did go back after the hiatus, and now I'm back here, but only to say that although I'm enjoying reading EH's stories very much, I've been reading only one per week: I need time to really think about each of them.

So, thank you, Bob, for introducing me to EH's work: although I didn't participate, I did follow the discussions on the stories I read, and I have a year of wonderful reading to look forward to!

Walt Whitman's "I Sit and Look Out"

Not at all: the following lines are appropriate here, don't you think?

I sit and look out upon all the sorrows of the world, and upon all oppression and shame;
I hear secret convulsive sobs from young men, at anguish with themselves, remorseful after deeds done;
...
I see the wife misused by her husband—I see the treacherous seducer of young women;
I mark the ranklings of jealousy and unrequited love, attempted to be hid—I see these sights on the earth;
...
All these—All the meanness and agony without end, I sitting, look out upon,
See, hear, and am silent.

me too, pmath, it is a rather slow process actually. I read the cat in the rain days ago and it seems like it needs a lot of incubation ..heheh...kinda interesting process of digesting the poison...ROFL.
