What happened that caused Nick to lose interest in Marjorie?

Re: "The End of Something"

I don’t think that it was so much that Nick lost interest in Marjorie, he lost interest in everything. He really loves Marjorie; he is just haunted by his memories of the war. He loses interest in other things too, like food. He just realizes that nothing in his life is the way it should be and it is no longer fun for him.
So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past...

Re: "The End of Something"

I believe there could have been a lot of events that could have happened that lead Nick to lose interest in Marjorie. One over all event was Nick’s experience in war. After Nick had seen horrible things every day I don’t think that a loving relationship is on his mind. Also Nick might have just realized that he really does not “love” Marjorie anymore. Marjorie was probably just a fling to Nick. Nick knew that after time he would lose interest and move on and it did not matter what Marjorie did.

Re: "The End of Something"

I think that nick lost interest in marjorie becuase he was suffering from depression and ptsd. He isn't able to love anymore, he's become to emotionally and psychologically damage from what he has gone through. I don't think it is as simply as Nick just wanting something new, deep down inside he may be still in love with her, but not able to love her.

i agree with mr. "WestN". nick is going through too much currently to have a meaningful relationship with marjorie. he probably still loves her but nothing's fun for him anymore. after going through what he did in the war it may be a while before he can be the same.
