Spoiler Alert
I was surprised that Paul was a third angel. As I was rereading the book I came across this part.. After Paul's death, Frieda describes the third angel "You can't even tell he is an angel if he is not. You think that you are doing him a kindness, you think that you are taking care of him, while all the time he is the one who is saving your life." Paul did this for Allie.
