Some early readers have commented that the women in Katie's life seem more challenging and difficult for her to deal with than the men. Her mother, though loving, comes across to her as slightly intimidating with her knowledge and elegance. Her sister can be supercilious: then there's Lisa and Maria, not exactly garden club ladies. Katie seems to have an easier time with guys, from Nicky to Dix to her father to Jacques and Huff. Do you agree with this statement and, if so, why do you think it's the case? And where does her husband Adam fit into this picture? And what about Ben Mattingly?
