This summer, it's time to get your e-book on! And as much as we all love the feel of a good book in our hands and that new book smell (or maybe that's just me?) downloading a book is just easier. And faster. And simpler. And doesn't take up any space in our luggage when we travel! Not to mention, they're often sold at bargain prices (like the ones on this list!) So this summer whether you're going on a vacay or a staycay, here's a list of entertaining e-books that you should download-stat!
Disclaimer: There's some shameless self promotion involved because *cough* my second that I co-wrote with Liz Fenton, The D Word is on this list! But hey, what can I say? I want y'all to read it! Because I care what you think. And there's an exciting contest involved too. Head over to Chick Lit Is Not Dead-after you read this article- for the deets!
As a spiritual counselor, newly single mother Jordan Daniels makes her living predicting other people’s futures. If only she could foresee her own. A year after filing for divorce from her husband, Kevin, he seems to be the one moving on effortlessly, while Jordan still can’t bring herself to fill his old underwear drawer. But it’s not until Jordan’s polar opposite, Elle steals Kevin’s heart, that Jordan becomes convinced she’ll be replaced both as a wife and a mother to her five-year-old son, Max. When Elle met Kevin, the last thing she wanted was another relationship. Especially not with a man with baggage-she already had enough of her own. She left her fiancé, Chase right before their wedding to avoid the imminent D word, something she’s convinced runs in her family like a disease. But a year later, she’s no closer to becoming less skeptical about marriage. And despite her attachment to Kevin and his son, when Elle sees just how far Jordan’s willing to go to win Kevin back, Elle starts to question if she should have left Chase in the first place. In The D Word you’ll walk in the shoes of Jordan and Elle as they discover that sometimes you’re not that different from the person who makes you feel the most insecure.
And if you're in the mood, you should also check out our other e-book, I'll Have Who She's Having.
The Scent of Jade by Dee DeTarsio. Remember that movie, Romancing the Stone?(Well maybe you're not as "old" as I am?) Well how about that reality show called Survivior? Well this e-book is a fun and deliciously quirky combo of the two and also involves a monkey, a foreign scientist and a mysterious love potion! How much fun is that?
Synopsis: A woman is lost in the Costa Rican rainforest with an ancient idol that may hold secrets to global warming! Julie Fraser was was minding her own business, living her life as snug as a bug in a rut in San Diego, California. As the least adventurous person she knows, Julie finally whooped it up one day to jet off and surprise her husband, who was on a business trip in Costa Rica. Reeling from the discovery that her husband wasn’t who she thought he was, she accidentally steals an ancient artifact and is chased through the wilds of the rainforest, not knowing where to turn, literally, or whom to trust. She knew she should have stayed home. Can a monkey, a blonde Juan, a foreign scientist, a mysterious ‘love potion’ and the jade stone itself (that may hold secrets to global warming), help Julie on her mission to find and forgive her husband? As the stolen idol catapults Julie on her quest, she discovers truths along the way about herself and her place in the universe. The Scent of Jade is quirky; creative and unique with surprising twists--in turns suspenseful and heartbreaking, combining humor and romance to reach the payoff ending. Original characters keep the pages turning. The Scent of Jade spins its story with wit and wisdom, drawing those who love mystery, suspense, romance, and adventure. While there are no vampires, readers are invited to enjoy the intrigue...
Also be sure to check out her other e-books including The Kitchen Shrink.
Twang By John Schlimm. I love me some country music. So this e-book about what it's like being a part of this billion dollar music industry was right up my alley.
Synopsis: Former Country Music publicist John Schlimm peels back the industry- crafted clich? of Nashville and its beloved superstars. He takes readers backstage of the sold- out concerts, inside the homes and heads of Nashville? s elite, and introduces them to a side of show business that has yet to be revealed. Readers are whisked away on a wild ride to a provocative and quirky place with fictional characters, who seem strikingly familiar, and who will leave the readers shocked, titillated, laughing, and realizing that the real world of Country Music is far more compelling and scandal- ridden than they could ever have imagined.
Be sure to stop by Chick Lit Is Not Dead later this week for a chance to win copies of all of these e-books!
