I’ve always loved Meg Cabot’s books. Her Queen of Babble and Big Boned series are my absolute faves. I think what attracts me the most to Cabot’s books is that they aren’t predictable. Even though she writes series, I often find myself surprised and intrigued at the direction she chooses for a character or story to take.

And now I’ve found myself surprised and intrigued by Meg Cabot herself. You might be familiar with our regular feature "5 Things Liz and Lisa Didn’t Know about…" over at our web site Chick Lit Is Not Dead. Regularly, our favorite authors, like Cabot, dish five juicy tidbits about themselves.  And today, Meg decided to publicize five of her never before seen photos (which she calls unflattering).

Well, you know how some people are so freakin’ photogenic. And some people, um, aren’t? Well, it turns out Meg and I have something in common.

We do not think we photograph well.

Let’s just say my own non-photogenic-ness is so bad that I never allowed my pictures to be framed before digital cameras were invented. PS: HOW did we survive without that sacred delete button?

So when Meg decided to put her own delete button-worthy pictures out for the world to see, I fell in love with her even more. I thought, “you go, girl” (Um, yeah, I actually thought that). I love her for not caring what people think. For letting it all hang out there. For showing that she’s human. And it makes me even more invested in her as a writer—and love her almost as much as I love her books.

Click here to check out Meg’s pictures and her comical explanations. BTW: If you leave a comment on my site, you’ll be entered to win A Bare Minerals Extreme Glimmers eyecolor set and Airhead Prize pack that includes Airhead, Being Nikki, and Runaway!

I already knew Meg Cabot was hilarious from following her witty status reports on Facebook and fun observations on Twitter. But this “photograph reveal” takes her up several notches in my funny book. And makes me even more excited to read her latest novel, Runaway. (Which I hear is one of her best!)

Are you a Meg Cabot fan?

Lisa Steinke, along with her best friend Liz Fenton, co-authored the chick lit novel I’ll Have Who She’s Having and co-created the popular Chick Lit blog, Chick Lit is Not Dead.

I'm a huge Meg Cabot fan! In fact, I don't think I've ever picked up a Cabot book that I didn't like. Plus, her blog always makes me laugh. Runaway was a great read, and tied up the Airhead series nicely.

I adore Meg Cabot. Her books honestly had a huge impact on me as a teenager. She made me realize that awkwardness is a part of life it's not something I will grow out of but it's just something that will grow with me, and that's not a bad thing. Everyone is awkward, at least everyone worth knowning. Great post!

I love Meg Cabot even when she was writing as Jenny Carroll. She is an amazing writer!
