We were first introduced (albeit briefly) to Bree -- she was killed for violating the Volturi's laws --  in Eclipse. Meyer told USA TODAY that the book "is pretty much contained in the last week of the newborns' existence before the big fight (between the Cullens and vampire army) in the meadow in Eclipse. It's the last week before Bree dies."

One dollar of each book sold of the initial printing (1.5 million copies) will be donated to the American Red Cross International Response Fund.

Meyer, in today's press release, states "I'd always considered The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner as something for the fans. They have been so supportive of all things Twilight."

Well that is a very generous thing for her to donate like that.

I haven't read any of her novels, I know, I know, I'm in the minority, but I just can't get into teenage paranormal love stories. Do you think this more than middle aged person would like it, and should I start at the beginning of the series. Help Paul!

The series has mass appeal but it really does skew to Young Adult. If you're having trouble buying into teenage paramormal love stories, you should probably pass on Meyer, Deb.

Thanks Paul, that's what my gut tells me too.

I've read all four Twilight novels and the concept appealed to me less and less as the series went on.  They don't age well for me.

So I will second Paul, Deb - if the concept isn't appealing to you, take a pass. :smileyhappy:
