I have introduced many people to Harry, especially my younger sister who is now a bigger fanatic than I am! Most of the people that I know who read the books love them like I do, so we all own our own copies.
Unfortunately, I returned to the States right after 9/11 and in the process I lost several important things - among them - a first edition of the Philosopher's Stone and a first edition O Magazine (Oprah)that mother had sent me. I hope someone is putting those to good use and that they have not just been incinerated!!!!

If we crawl/ Till we can walk again/ Then we'll run/ Until we're strong enough to jump/ Then we'll fly/ Until there is no end.

Besides, i've already written my own personal opinions, poetry, quotes, basically my entire life, on and in all my HP books---and to make sure no one attempts to read them, recently i've taken to writing key secrets of the book on various pages. No one will touch my books. period.
"Bombing for peace is like f***ing for virginity"
"There is no such thing as death, only the absence of life."
"There is no end, unless you let it."

I'm partial to this myself. I do keep my books, and I re-read the best at least once a year.
I am a Browncoat as well as a HP fan... for those of you that don't recognize the term, I am a fan of a FOX short-lived TV show named Firefly-- and the Browncoats have a term they call "recruiting"-- One has their own beloved copy that will be pried from their cold, dead fingers upon their death... but they have at least one "loaner" copy-- with which to snag new fans. I teach English... and in my school, the return rate is rather thin... So, the loanee must leave me a dollar, to be returned upon the return of the item. Surprisingly, cause the books are worth a great deal more than the dollar... they come back.
I'll take it.
I have duplicates (sometimes 3 or 5..) of every title. I loan to friends... but I now have a stamp that I put on the exterior of the pages... so you can see it from the outside that it is MINE!!!
I want new fans... but I want the books back so I can do it again next year.
