A Strange Muse...

A random question from one of my classmates sparked an odd tangent of thought.  The question: How do you manage to stay fit when you spend as much time on the computer as you do?  (On average I'm on my computer about 5 - 6 hours/day.)

Well...Not a question I had gotten before, but it made me stop; it made me think.  (Personally, those are my  favorite kind of questions...).  The answer in and of itself is simple:  A yoga ball.  (I'm not talking about one of the niminy piminy small or medium balance balls, I have the extra large...:smileywink:).  Being 5'4", I should be using a small, but I like a little challenge and the extra large was the perfect height for my table, never mind that my feet don't touch the ground.  I've learned how to balance, constantly shifting my ball, working off the excess energy that would otherwise drive me to distraction and interfere with my concentration.  (ADHD is a tricky issue to deal with, but I've learned to work with it, not against it.)  Enter the Strange Muse, stage right.

Balanced and bouncing, music up high, I let go, let my words, imagination, and fingers fly.  My writing processes becomes a tangible breathing thing.  Rhythms catch and images form.  The motion of the ball shifting, the steady beat of a heart, the echo of a dark refrain comes to life carving out a living, fluid piece.  The places, the people, the worlds come to life, brilliant and burning in my brain.  Feet free of the ground, fingers flying, words flowing.  A strange muse, this simple yoga ball, but a perfect solution for a distracted dreamer...:smileyhappy:
