Since 1997, you’ve been coming to BarnesandNoble.com to discuss everything from Stephen King to writing to Harry Potter. You’ve made our site more than a place to discover your next book: you’ve made it a community. But like all things internet, BN.com is growing and changing. We've said goodbye to our community message boards—but that doesn’t mean we won’t still be a place for adventurous readers to connect and discover.

Now, you can explore the most exciting new titles (and remember the classics) at the Barnes & Noble Book Blog. Check out conversations with authors like Jeff VanderMeer and Gary Shteyngart at the B&N Review, and browse write-ups of the best in literary fiction. Come to our Facebook page to weigh in on what it means to be a book nerd. Browse digital deals on the NOOK blog, tweet about books with us,or self-publish your latest novella with NOOK Press. And for those of you looking for support for your NOOK, the NOOK Support Forums will still be here.

We will continue to provide you with books that make you turn pages well past midnight, discover new worlds, and reunite with old friends. And we hope that you’ll continue to tell us how you’re doing, what you’re reading, and what books mean to you.

A small kinda skit thingy. You have one?

I kinda jotted this down when i was bored in german I. It's kinda silly, and I'll probably never use it again, but I figure, hey it's funny, so why not share some?

"Fly away, little mouse, he says, I'm free!" Danearik sings, drunk. "When battle'sh done and mouse blood shun, t'morrow's morrow I'll be fr...m...me!"
Victanys, more and more sober with every drink, giggles and replies, "Dan, that makes absolutely no sense!"
"It doeshn't 'ave too!" says danaerik, happy and drunk beyond real thought,"It sounds good! Haha! And the mousey man will..." He goes on singing while Ravaaga, drunk for the first time in his seventy years, struggles to form a sentence.
"Act'lly, it kinda...da does, hey?" he stammers, green eyes dancing as whatever he was thinking suddenly made sense to him. "yeah... see, it dosh...uh, doesh...errr DOES! It DOES because...b-because..." he lost it, no longer holding that fragmented thought. "If you think about it..."
All but Victanys winced as they tried, and Danearik panicked. "I c-can'st!" he yelps. "I can'tsht think! my mind... my mind...no, not there, or there... I've lost my MIND! help me look for it, guys!"
There is a flurry of action as victanys falls over laughing and the three men all search frantically for danearik's lost mind. Vic holds up a moss and mold covered rock and says, "found it!"
Dan takes it saying, "Oh, thank the gods!" He looks around. "errr.... how do i get it back into my head?"

Do you guys have any?

sorry. They're all supposed to be elves, but when I use them, I got tired of the quiet, peacable ones, so I made them more real. I mean, like, you can understand them more (even though these ones are drunk) so like how Ravaaga's seventy, he still looks like sixteen. The names are pronounced like they look, pretty much. Still working on them though. i'm thinking about using irish and germanic names, mostly, though, obviously, i haven't yet. The names go like this:

Danaerik Leafvane-Guy
(Dan-A-rick) (Leaf-vane)

Victanys Dawntracker-Girl
(Vick-tan-iss) (Dawn-tracker)

Ravaaga Earthdell-Guy
(Rah-vuh-guh) (Earth-Dell)

ha! drunk elves! classic twist on what we know (or think we know) of those fantastic creatures!

more more!

like, how would you make your dwarves stand-out as unique and different from the established fantasy stereotypes?

and hobbit/halflings??

and humans?

hmmm... could be a whole new reinvention about to take place!!
I no longer regret that I have no quote, quip or anecdote to share with my countrymen... how about all y'all?

dwarves?

hmmmmm...... Well, I don't usually use them in anything, but I guess they would be more sober, right? They usually drink alot and blacksmith, so I guess, uh.... gah I'm no good with dwarves. And I know nothing at all about hobbits or halflings, other than what lord of the rings tells me. but humans would have to be less violent, more like the elves we're used to seeing. not necessarily magical and majestic, not even peace-loving, but have any of you played FF chrystal chronicles? If so, you know the clavats? Sorta like them. The elves I'm using now are the warlike ones, and there are 22 or so different clans, or types. They all have their own allies, and all have their own enemies.
