Chapter 2
Raven’s whistle
Raven approached his two men and huddled up so Jade couldn’t see his discussion.
“Are you sure? Sir Raven?” One man said.
“Definitely, and how many times do I have to say it’s just Raven” Raven ordered.
“Sorry Si…Sorry Raven” The men got up on their steeds and rode off.
“I sent them back to Halure, they don’t know my secret, a secret Jade Curtis or should I say Jade the Necromancer, I am willing to share with you, in return…” Raven explained.
“You will keep my secret as well. You are quite informed, I guess the legends of you being the best spy on the planet are true” Jade finished Raven’s statement.
“Do we have a deal Jade?” Raven offered his hand.
Jade shook his hand. Raven pulled on a necklace chain he worn and pulled out from under his top clothing a small thin whistle. He blew the whistle but no sound was made. A bubble of aqua light began to form in front of the two men. In the center of the bubble an image began to form. It was a very bird that peered through their souls.
“Phaeroh? The Entellica of Fire?” Jade gasped.
“My herald what do you need of me or the brotherhood? “ Phaeroh’s voice boomed across the lands.
“I require the aide of the Kam-Re, my dear friend is he available? Raven asked.
“Am I? I’m always ready!” An excited voice shouted from behind Phaeroh.
“I think you got your answer Raven, he’s already flying to you” Phaeroh pleaded.
“Thank you” Raven put away his whistle.
“So your secret is you are friends with monsters” Jade said.
“The Entellica is not monsters! They are the original habitats of this world, and they have protected human kind from countless perils that even a human of your keen mind Jade the Necromancer could ever understand!” Raven’s heart was filled with anger.
A gentle breeze began to flow from the west. Jade looked across the plans and saw in midair a magnificent sight. A white horse with golden wings making its way to them. The horse moved through the air like a mustang would on the land. Occasionally its wings flapped to maintain its lift. The beautiful animal landed right next to Raven and rubbed his head on Raven.
“Raven, I missed you, how can I serve you today” Kam-Re proclaimed.
Raven mounted Kam-Re and, gentle stroke his mane. He whispered something in the Pegasus’ ear and, they took off.
“Hey wait for me” Jade got back into his flyer.
Jade was amazed that even at maximum speed his aircraft had trouble keeping up with Raven’s winged horse. He had heard rumors about Raven not being like most people but, he never dreamt it was to this extent. Jade was far from normal himself though. He was granted the power of necromancy when a child. He found the dead often were more interesting then the living but…
“Obviously Raven the “Monster Tamer” is an exception, wait he said human kind earlier, that means Raven doesn’t consider himself…” Jade mapped out his thoughts as he flew.
Finally after what seemed to be an eternality, Kam-Re landed in a grassy plan several miles from where they started. Jade landed his craft next to them.
“Your metal bird is nice but, can’t catch me” Kam-Re teased.
“Raven, you said earlier human like me wouldn’t understand, that suggests your not human yourself. What are you then?” Jade shouted his inquire.
“Once upon a time, there was a great bird Entellica that flew all over the world with its wings as dark as night and, that bird had a name. Ravencroft Greatlast but, he evolved to an Entellexian which looked sort of human but, not quite. His eyes the dead giveaway the shine of silver, he changed his name to something shorter…” Raven told.
“To Raven the Great” Jade interrupted.
:Indeed” Raven replied.
Help me down the crooked road. Lead me to the light. I'm not sure I know the way but with you beside me, I'm certain we'll make it through.
