Short Story
Part 1
Destiny is a strange and subtle force. We mortals believe we have some sort of grasp over reality, and to a certian degree we do. But to another, we are but actors in a divine play.
A woman sits down with one of her good friends at a table in a library. There was nothing particular about this one table, but it seemed nice, comfortable even.
"Its so cold outside," She said, her name Kaity, placing her bag on the table.
"Your always complaining about the weather," Her friend said, his name Michael.
"Yeah, but you know me, I get the chills so easily, especially around this year," Kaity said.
"What, winter?" Michael laughed. "Everyone gets cold around this year."
"I know, thats what I mean! I get cold during winter, " Kaity said, annoyed.
"Oh, okay then," Michael said calmly. "Calm down."
Kaity laughed.
"I am calm, thank you very much!" Kaity said.
"Oh, Im sure," Michael said, pretending to sound unconvinced.
Just then, the librarien came around the corner from one of the tall bookshelves, and as she stoped by the table they were accidentally dropped a large book on Kaity's foot.
"Ouch!" Kaity said.
The librariens old face became contorted with guilt.
"I am SO sorry," She said, picking the book up. But just as the Librarien bent down she looked into the face of Kaity, and she gasped, smiling widely.
"Kaity, is that you?" The librarien asked.
Kaity, who was confused, looked back into the old woman's face, but was not sure who she was.
"Yes, thats my name." Kaity said, confused. "How did you know?"
The librarien began to laugh.
"How do I know?" She said, laughing even harder now. "You dont remmember me? I was your first grade teacher, Miss Clover. I never forget the faces of my students."
Kaity's eyebrows shot up in suprise.
"MIss Clover!" Kaity said, her voice raising an octive. "Omigod! What a suprise!"
Michael, who had been silent the whole time, was looking at the two woman, who were now hugging, as if he were in a strange story right now.
"Michael, this is Miss Clover, she was the best teacher at Michael Angelo's high school!" Kaity said, smiling brightly.
"Oh, thats too much dear, I was no better than anyone else," Miss Clover said, blushing.
"Well, hello," Michael said, raising out of his seat, extending his hand, and they shook, her grip, to the suprise of Michael, was quite strong.
"NIce to meet you young man," Miss Clover said, exchanging a brilliant smile with Michael.
"Wow, what were the chances?" Kaity said.
