I'm writing a book, but none of the scenes are coming to me in order. So I have a variety of different events in the book that I have to figure out how to connect them together. I also keep trying to start the beginning of the book, but it never seems right or good enough. Usually when I write I start at the begginning and keep going. I'm extremely frustrated. Any advice? I need some inspiration...

Here is my advice: Take a break! Most of the time when you give your book a break for a few days or a few weeks you will look at it differently when you get back to it. Do something else for a while. Go on a trip, watch movies, read books, or go for long walks. It really helps to get away from your writing for a while to allow different ideas to surface when you are not focusing on what isn't working. Good Luck!

Hi Kate!
If I were you, I'd make a quick Outline. Write down short sentences or statements of what happens, and in what sequence. Then study it. As the story becomes clearer in your mind, you may want to rearrange some of those plot-points, and you'll get ideas of how to connect them.
If you can't start the story, don't worry. Start writing in the middle, a paragraph or chapter that seems to be the crux of your story. I'm sure there are other authors out there, who write the beginning later or last, once most of the story is filled in. It's different for each writer. Some writers will write an intriguing first line, with no idea of how the following story will turn out. Other writers, like you, have most of the story down as plot-points, and need to fill the story in.
Maybe, as the other poster suggested, write out a quick Outline and put it away for a few days. When you re-read it with fresh eyes, maybe the story will seem clearer to you.
Good Luck!
