Hi, I hope you guys like it. I wrote before, if you remmember, that I would take a while to type it. But funny thing, I was actually pretty enthusiastic about writing this one. Anyways, post what you think, bad news or good news is accepted and expected. haha
Part 2
The following meeting between Kaity, Michael, and Miss Clover was one full of magic and timelessness. Truly, Kaity had meant it when she asked, “What were the chances?”
Miss Clover took a seat at there table. She explained that she was about to take her lunch break, but someone returned a book, and she thought she might as well put it back in its place before lunch. When she went to drop it off, she literally dropped it on Kaity’s foot. If she didn’t return that book, Miss Clover explained, this reunion would probably never have existed.
“It’s just so incredible,” Kaity said. “You know, you always told us that your old students often drop by, or by chance you see them.”
“You see, I told you,” Miss Clover said, laughing pleasantly.
“Well, I’m glad you guys got to see each other again,” Michael said, “but are we gonna get breakfast any time soon?”
“Are you serious right now?” Kaity said incredulously. She turned toward Miss Clover, “Just ignore Michael! He likes to waste once in a life time meetings by stuffing bagels down his throat.”
Miss Clover and Kaity laughed together.
“Yeah, funny, okay, are we going or what?” Michael asked, truly hoping Kaity would say yes.
Kaity sighed. “Are you honestly that hungry?”
“YES!” Michael said, making the grimmest of expressions usually reserved for life and death situations.
“Well, don’t worry dear, I can just give you my number,” Miss Clover said sweetly. “We can talk when I’m not working.”
“That would be great!” Kaity said enthusiastically. “You know, you really made a strong impact on me when I was a kid.”
“That,” Miss Clover said, her eyes sparkling, “is what made teaching the best thing of my life.”
* * *
Michael burst through the library doors, practically dragging Kaity behind him. A burst of cold wind hit them both as they hurried through the snowy sidewalks.
“Michael, what is the hurry!” Kaity asked, trying to keep up.
“I’m just really hungry!” Michael said, looking straight ahead, all the trees glittering in the sun.
“Michael, no sane human is that hungry,” Kaity protested.
“No?” Michael said, his voice becoming energetic. “Well, maybe I’ve gone insane!” He laughed quite hysterically, in an uncaring manner. Kaity was quite confused at this point.
Then, abruptly, they stopped in front of a coffee shop, and Michael turned around to face Kaity, who was trying to catch her breath.
“Kaity,” Michael said, looking her straight in the eyes. “How long have we known each other?”
“Um, our whole lives?” Kaity said.
“Exactly!” Michael said. “I’m not really hungry. I brought you here, because well, I love you Kaity. I want to marry you.”
Michael got on one knee, taking hold of Kaity’s hand.
Kaity was horrified.
“Will you merry me?”
“Michael… I… I” Kaity managed her heart breaking as she looked at those expectant eyes. “Michael, no, I can’t.”
“SURPRISE!”
A dozen people burst out of the coffee shop. “Did she say yes?” Kaity’s Father asked, her mother by his side, their faces glowing brightly. Her cousins, brother, all were there.
“Michael, what the hell is all of this?” Kaity asked.
Instantly her family’s smiles disappeared, Michael looking as if a light was extinguished in his eyes.
“You, won’t?” Michael asked.
“No, Michael, what are you thinking?” Kaity asked, still feeling agony at the whole situation, feeling like the bad guy. “Why would you do this? I’m your best friend, don’t you know that? Didn’t you feel the same way?”
“Maybe we should leave,” Kaity’s mother said awkwardly.
“That doesn’t sound like a bad idea…” said her father.
“I can’t believe this,” Kaity said, putting a hand over her eyes. “I’m just gonna, I don’t know.”
Kaity turned around and walked away, feeling like a complete ass.
End of Part 2
Stay tuned for next time,
That is of course, if you’re still interested…

Your story is so interesting that I'm looking forward to reading part 3!
I like it! I'm not just saying that ....you have some talent! I've never written a short story.
I'm curious as to how their friendship will be after saying No to the marriage proposal...
