Since 1997, you’ve been coming to to discuss everything from Stephen King to writing to Harry Potter. You’ve made our site more than a place to discover your next book: you’ve made it a community. But like all things internet, is growing and changing. We've said goodbye to our community message boards—but that doesn’t mean we won’t still be a place for adventurous readers to connect and discover.

Now, you can explore the most exciting new titles (and remember the classics) at the Barnes & Noble Book Blog. Check out conversations with authors like Jeff VanderMeer and Gary Shteyngart at the B&N Review, and browse write-ups of the best in literary fiction. Come to our Facebook page to weigh in on what it means to be a book nerd. Browse digital deals on the NOOK blog, tweet about books with us,or self-publish your latest novella with NOOK Press. And for those of you looking for support for your NOOK, the NOOK Support Forums will still be here.

We will continue to provide you with books that make you turn pages well past midnight, discover new worlds, and reunite with old friends. And we hope that you’ll continue to tell us how you’re doing, what you’re reading, and what books mean to you.

Growing up

I was the top student

Every grade an A

Now as I enter

University years

I am not the smartest

It is uncharted water

But I have never given up

On anything in my eighteen years

And I’m not starting now

It took a lot of pride swallowing

But I decided to go to tutoring for math

And with help I am getting through

I will pass it.

It’s different for me

To have to work so hard

For a C

But it feels so good

I never thought that

I would ever feel a C was good

But I have work harder for it

Then all the A’s I got growing up

And now I realize

It’s not about how easy or hard

It comes to you

It’s about the learning

That matters

Help me down the crooked road. Lead me to the light. I'm not sure I know the way but with you beside me, I'm certain we'll make it through.

Re: School

shadowcat80, it's amazing the hidden potential we all have inside. Your tutorial with Math has helped you and you feel confident about yourself with the ability to understand something which was difficult for you.  Your "C" will eventually turn into a "B" with your perseverance.

Re: School

High school had me bored to tears, so I turned to books, reading whenever I could.  I graduated with far more credits than I needed and leapt into college the following fall.  I loved the challenge, being forced to think outside the box and actually work for a good grade.  It does take time to adjust to a new, wider world, but once acclimated it is so hard to go back.  Part of life is learning from out mistakes and striving to make that C or B into an A.  Keep writing and relish the challenge.
