Since 1997, you’ve been coming to BarnesandNoble.com to discuss everything from Stephen King to writing to Harry Potter. You’ve made our site more than a place to discover your next book: you’ve made it a community. But like all things internet, BN.com is growing and changing. We've said goodbye to our community message boards—but that doesn’t mean we won’t still be a place for adventurous readers to connect and discover.

Now, you can explore the most exciting new titles (and remember the classics) at the Barnes & Noble Book Blog. Check out conversations with authors like Jeff VanderMeer and Gary Shteyngart at the B&N Review, and browse write-ups of the best in literary fiction. Come to our Facebook page to weigh in on what it means to be a book nerd. Browse digital deals on the NOOK blog, tweet about books with us,or self-publish your latest novella with NOOK Press. And for those of you looking for support for your NOOK, the NOOK Support Forums will still be here.

We will continue to provide you with books that make you turn pages well past midnight, discover new worlds, and reunite with old friends. And we hope that you’ll continue to tell us how you’re doing, what you’re reading, and what books mean to you.

You're Not Mine

This is a poem from my book, Love Undefined. Feel free to comment. Hope you like it.

You're Not Mine

You’re not mine,

yet sometimes my thoughts intertwine

with yours, as we engage in conversation.

This situation feels right, and though I have

not crossed the threshold into wrong,

I hesitate to clarify your position in my soul.

You’re not mine…and I know that.

But there’s this need to look you in your eyes,

and lose myself with our stare.

The axis must definitely have a unique spin,

for our planets turned to place us here again,

face-to-face with no peripheral vision necessary.

I see no one but you.

You’re not mine, yet deep down I wish you were,

and maybe that is ill-timed in itself.

Maybe I have exhausted my opportunity

to occupy your emotional locket, where love

is treasured, and worn proudly.

Your happiness appears missing or simply

misplaced, yet, coincidently, it means the most to me.

You place me in a state of mystery, like gifts

given at Christmas time, and it's January in my mind.

Only patience can lead you to me now, and only

if it’s meant to be a reality.

You’re not mine,

and what is just as difficult, is recognizing

that I am also not yours.

You are delightful, like citrus in the morning,

clearing the voice pipes to say everything

your body hopes to hear.

You are caring.

You are loving.

You are a balanced scale of joy and strength,

for one never outweighs the other in your presence.

Yet, still, you are not mine.

Forgiveness, I ask of thee.

Re: You're Not Mine

This is a truly beautiful poem. It reminds me a lot of a problem going on in my own life, with a boy...

Thank you for the comment. It is one of those poems that make you think about someone special, or someone who has the potential to be special. I appreciate the love.
