Since 1997, you’ve been coming to BarnesandNoble.com to discuss everything from Stephen King to writing to Harry Potter. You’ve made our site more than a place to discover your next book: you’ve made it a community. But like all things internet, BN.com is growing and changing. We've said goodbye to our community message boards—but that doesn’t mean we won’t still be a place for adventurous readers to connect and discover.

Now, you can explore the most exciting new titles (and remember the classics) at the Barnes & Noble Book Blog. Check out conversations with authors like Jeff VanderMeer and Gary Shteyngart at the B&N Review, and browse write-ups of the best in literary fiction. Come to our Facebook page to weigh in on what it means to be a book nerd. Browse digital deals on the NOOK blog, tweet about books with us,or self-publish your latest novella with NOOK Press. And for those of you looking for support for your NOOK, the NOOK Support Forums will still be here.

We will continue to provide you with books that make you turn pages well past midnight, discover new worlds, and reunite with old friends. And we hope that you’ll continue to tell us how you’re doing, what you’re reading, and what books mean to you.

Yesterday is history,
Tomorrow is a mystery,
Today is a Gift, that's why it's the Present

I'm weird, get used to it.

Don't walk in front of me, I might not follow.
Don't walk behind me, I might not lead.
Just walk next to me, I'll be your friend.

There are four questions of value in life... What is sacred? Of what is the spirit made? What is worth living for, and what is worth dying for? The answer to each is the same. Only love.

Re: quotes you live by

Unfortunately my quote isn't very literary but it is highly pragmatic and honestly it is something I tell myself, friends, and co-workers frequently to help us get through situations that might make us somewhat defensive:

The truth will set you free but first it will piss you off. ~Anonymous.

(I do like Starlet's Groucho Marx quote though!)

(in case you were wondering mike eruzione was on the 1980 winter olympics ice hockey team and i think scored the winning goal in the miracle on ice game against the soviet union. herb brooks, the coach.im a big hockey fan:smileywink:.)

One love
One blood
One life, you got to do what you should

and my quote at the end by ferris beuller.
speaking of ferris beuller, i just watched that last night, followed by miracle, 2 of my favorite movies ever. (then napolean dynamite, then pretty in pink, then 16 candles, then the breakfast club, then rock n roll high school. but these don't count my favorite movie series ie harry potter, lord of the rings, star wars, etc.)
speaking of movies, bri-dep, i wanted to see across the universe, but the day my friends and i  were going, i was sick. is bono really in it? i love bono:smileywink:.

"(insert person/thing of your choice) has no hair."

i don't live by it,  but its funny and has no meaning.

Yep, Bono is definitely in it!

You should rent it and let me know what you think. It gets a little weird at some parts, but it's definitely a great movie.

I heard a slightly different version of that from my second group teacher:
The past is all that's gone
The future is yet to come
Right now is a gift,
That's why they call it the "present"

Re: quotes you live by

not exactly the "deepest" quote, but very true:

"when life hands you lemons, make lemonade and then add vodka. you'll be happy soon enough."

"if at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definately isn't for you."

and also

"Then must you strive to be worthy of her love, and she worthy of yours in return."

Re: quotes you live by

Hi - what a great idea - I love quotes, and have really enjoyed reading the favourites quotes of others. I have an entire book of quotes, so to pick one or two...

These are quotes which I think contain wisdom to live by:

"you cannot successfully navigate the future unless you keep always framed beside it a small, clear image of the past." (Jan Struther, Mrs Miniver)

"Life is change. Growth is optional. Choose wisely" (Karen Kaiser Clark)

"In three words I can sum up everything I've learnt about life: it goes on." (Robert Frost)

"'survival...simply isn't a matter of fitness, I consider, it's a matter of tenacity" (Elizabeth Bowen, The Back Drawing Room (short story))

"'[The path of love is not a path of comfort,' she said. 'It means going foward into the unknown, with no guarantees of safey, dangerous, but with trust there is hope for love, and love is all we ever have to hold against the dark.'" (Rian Malan, My Traitor's Heart)

"...witty blows below the bet somtimes leave nasty bruises" (Clive Bell, Old Friends)

"The clever are humble, for they have understood how little they understand." (Jill Paton Walsh, Knowledge of Angels)

"An eye for an eye leads only to more blindness" (Margaret Atwood, Cat's Eye)

"You have brains in your head
You have feet in your shoes
You can steer yourself
any direction you choose.
You're on your own
and you know what you know
And you are the one who'll decide
                   where to
